Nfc South Offseason Grades Coming Up On Nfl Live

Recommended Posts

Harbaugh played in the NFL for years and coached in the NFL as well before coaching as a head coach in college. Schiano played college ball and was a defensive assistant coach in Chicago for a few years before going into the college ranks.

Their understanding of the pro game is likely different but of course they both could be successful. Harbaugh just has tons more experience in the NFL at all levels.

Garbage is in the 10% of college coaches that succeed early. Most don't.

I do think the Bucs improved their team...just not enough.

I am also one who really thinks that Josh Freeman is massively over rated.

Yeah, I don't think Freeman is very good either. I was just pointing out that discounting coaches because they came from a college team may not be the best stance to take.

Agreed. But I do think Schiano will struggle. His offensive scheme in college was strictly a ground and pound style. I think he will struggle to score against high powered offenses like Carolina, Atlanta, and NO in his first year.

You very well could be correct. His offence isn't a traditional ground and pound though, he's one of the best ground attack schemers in the game imo.

But, the college game and the pro game are very different.

Harbaugh ran a pro style offense at Sranford. Schianno's offense is not a pro style offense.

Could make the transition more difficult.. but only time will tell.

Lol... You think his offense will struggle to score?

Let's see here: without even looking at the roster, I'm calling BS!

You had better have some respect for the Bucs this year, because if you don't, they will earn it from you.

Not saying that We can't beat them, just saying don't be a blind homer.

the bucs will probably have a season like we did last year.

freeman has been told to start over with a blank slate, run game isn't proven with blount being bad last year and doug martin coming in... mike williams has to get out of his sophomore slump, vincent jackson hasn't proved that he isn't in the game just for the money, the cornerback position is a big question mark (barber is old/regressing, talib always possibly getting arrested, wright not being good), the LBs aren't a strength, and the DL is incredibly young and injury-prone. the OL should be good if davin joseph returns to form (do not bring up that he went to the pro bowl - he sucked last year).

oh yeah, and the have a new coaching staff which usually means lots of bumps in the road.

not seeing how they become a playoff contender unless they have an easy schedule again like they did in 2010.

I am saying that the style of offense that Schiamo had at Rutgers was based on the run. Unless he opens it up, it is hard to score 30 pts a game. I did not say they will struggle to score. I said that I think they will struggle to score at a pace equal to high powered offenses like Carolina, Atlanta, and NO.

As for their run game, it will have a shitty Blount and a rookie....so it will be a crap shoot with them.

Not to mention that their defense was absolute Swiss cheese last year. I did not see enough from them to completely overhaul it.

I don't think they will suck, just finish 4th in the division.

Running the ball usually works from pee wee football all the way through the NFL. Obviously he'll have to pass more and obviously that's why they went after and got Vincent Jackson. I expect the Us and the Bucs to finish 1-2 in the division once the dust clears. I make that prediction based solely on the fact that Cam and Freeman stay healthy.

Btw, that rookie they picked up is a pretty damned good back, so I wouldn't exactly call it a crap shoot either. I'm a Carolina fan through and through 24/7 365. I'm just not naive enough to think the Bucs aren't gonna be contenders this season.
