My money would go on Azrael as it reported that Chrisian Bale and Nolan agreed long ago that the only way Bale would be involved was if there was no Robin.

But this is not an adaptation of Knightfall and It would take GIANT balls on Nolan's part to go down that road with folks who havent read the comics over the years.

The Long Halloween would be what The Dark Knight was based on. It's a storyline involving Two Face and the Joker.

Honestly, I think that JGL will be Dick Grayson, whether or not that means he's Robin or not, I doubt it. There could be some kind of storyline where Dick Grayson just becomes Nightwing to take the place of Batman, without there ever being a Robin. The scene with the kid drawing the bat (it looks an awful lot like Nightwing's bird), and asking if he's coming back, makes me think that JGL will become Nightwing.

Also, it definitely looks like Bruce Wayne is hobbling at the beginning of the trailer. I'm sure Bane is going to break his back.

Who do you think that guy who shoves someone at 1:17 is? One of Bane's goons or someone important?

JGL is playing John Blake, a cop who helps Batman bring down Bane is all IMDB says. Not having read the comics, does John Blake mean anything or would they still turn him into a different character?

To answer sort of my own question, this article looks like it could be pretty right on as far as the direction of the movie. Just an opinion/prediction piece, but I'm thinking it's right. That trailor has a lot of hints in it IMO.

I can get on board for this. I doubt the studios stop making movies when they make tons of money. JGL is a better actor than Bale is anyway.

Yeah I'm thinking (and maybe even hoping now), that Bruce Wayne is "killed off". JGL finishes Bane off and a new series can begin if they choose with Nightwing, Robin, whatever direction they go for. Never read any of the comics other than Wiki summaries so no clue what would really make sense.
