carolina isn't against the cap. we're something like $5.8 million under according to yasinskas with an additional $3.8 million due to be freed up on june 1st when wharton's cap hit comes off the books. we'll be almost $10 million under a month from now which should have us barely trailing tampa for the most cap space in the division. not bad.

Skins have a little cap situation coming up... LOL

In Rivera I trust. Comming off a complete shat season he came in and gave hope this season. Yes, Cam had a lot to do with this but at the end of the season you could see a difference between the Fox era and the Riv era. If he can manage to keep chud a year or two more with cam he will no doubt be our most successful head coach.

I'm skeptical too, BUT... this is either Hurney AND Rivera being stubborn, or they really see something that we don't on our DTs. We already know that Hurney can be stubborn. I don't think (and I don't know...) if that is Rivera's personality.

I look at it like this: last year, the loss of the veteran leadership Ron Edwards represents was a big hit. It left us with a couple of rookies as starters for most of the rest of the season, and no matter how good they potentially could be, they were still rookies dealing with NFL caliber defenses. Frankly, I'm pretty surprised they did as well as they did. I've heard it said by those who know more about such things than I do that it takes two to three years for a new young lineman to learn his job well enough in the NFL to start producing good stuff on a consistent basis. I'm willing to trust RR and McDermott to bring them along at the proper pace. We'll see what it looks like at the end of next season and go on from there.

Again, why would we draft ANOTHER DT after taking 2 early last year? Yes McClain and Fua struggled and no they did not meet expectations, but they were rookies coming in with no OTA's and a short camp. I think everyone, including myself, had unrealistic expectations for them both. I think they will be much better this year especially in a rotation with the vets. We have a solid group of DE's and good depth at LB as well. I am not concerned.
