Perplexed About Alexander

In regards to Hardy..I wonder if playing so much wore him down mentally and phisically as he seemed really explosive in the beginnning of the season. Having an Alexander and Applewhite, Keiser to rotate in will hopefully keep him fresh and willing.

This pick only helps the Ends and CJ. If Shirley and McClain can get any push up the middle i think Hardy's numbers should be like CJ's in his second season with 8 sacks in rotation. I think Hardy is better if his workload is litened up a bit.

Watch some of his Vids and you will see why. He is stiff out of the DE spot and does not have a high motor. He really is a Jack LB with upside. Def has good hands and speed, wraps up well, and sheds off defenders with ease. I think he has a lot of potential but he is not THERE yet at this point. I can see why Rivera likes him and he could be a better Applewhite if he puts forth the work.

He uses different stances, he played a little linebacker if I'm not mitaken.

He needs to use the proper stance. The one he uses in that video with hand in the dirt where is appears to have both feet parallel just makes him come off the stance to slow and high.

Probably so, Hardy has always had durability issues.

Every fanbase is convinced 75% of their picks "could have been" 1st/2nd rounders

don't let it happen to you

I don't see anyone saying he is first or second round talent. I think most are saying that he should have been higher than a 7th round projection in most analyses. I think he was great value for the fourth round but won't be confused with a first rounder at this point. In a year or two who knows.

Despite being awarded co-denfensive Big 12 player of the year, he has weaknesses. Listed by CBSsports-

"Alexander has only average size and strength and needs to add bulk to his upper and lower body. He isn't a sudden athlete with very ordinary flexibility and fluidity ... not overly explosive and lacks the speed to consistently win the edge. Alexander is an upright rusher and plays too high - not a natural bender and pops too upright off the snap. He has limited power and struggles to disengage blocks ... not overpowering in any aspect of his game. Alexander is too aggressive, biting on fakes and allowing himself to be caught out of position. He has poor leverage against the run and can be washed out of the play ... too easily redirected. Alexander needs to consistently finish and complete the tackle. He had only one season of elite production ... somewhat of a one-year wonder. NFL Comparison: Jammie Kirlew, Jacksonville Jaguars -- Dane Brugler

It does sound like some of his issues can be corrected.

No one is saying that he should have been a first or second round pick but a sixth or seventh round grade for Mr. Alexander is ludicrous. Especially when guys like Kourtnei Brown, Jacquies Smith, Jake Bequette, Malik Jackson, Tim Fugger and others ranked ahead of him.

Two different websites compare him to Jammie Kirlew and Kroy Biermann which is unfair to Alexander in my opinion because I think those two comparisons are purely done with him though of as a seventh round prospect.
