Perplexed About Alexander

I cant wrap my head around almost every service projecting him as a 7th rounder with his combo of size / athletic ability and college production

Just doesnt make any fuggin sense.

Because he still is a work in progress. Only had one great year as a senior. He isn't a plug and play guy, he needs to be in a rotation and work into being a starter. He is good situational pass rusher but needs work on run defense. So with that, he isn't going to drafted high. I think he is much better than a 7th rounder but then again what do I know???

I would say he dropped because of the stabbing incident and though his heart issue was proven to be false some teams probably didn't want to take a chance on him just in case something came up. The Panthers benefited from this in my opinion. I really like Alexander and I think he will start day one.

If anything, he dropped because teams weren't able to see him preform at the combine and only got to see him at the Oklahoma pro day.

His weight and size isn't an issue at all, for those wondering he has more size weight than Chandler Jones, Andre Branch, Whitney Mercilus, Vinny Curry, and Melvin Ingram. He also has the height advantage over Melvin Ingram, Nick Perry, and Vinny Curry. To me his size isn't an issue.

To me his production speaks for itself...

- 142 career tackles

- 44.5 career tackles for a loss

- 21 career sacks

- 15 passes broken up

- 15 quarterback hurries

- 6 forced fumbles

- 1 career interception

- 1 fumble recovery

- 1 fumble recovered for a touchdown

That's production right there.

Lombardi holds him in high regard. On the draft day broadcast, as he was tiring, they did summaries on a few picks and he raved about the Alexander pick. Said he could start or become a rotational impact guy and said he will play a lot like Mike Rucker.

Someone posted Lombardi's assessment of draft day values in another post within the last few pages..

His video looks great and the fact he had his best games against the top teams make me feel he will be up to the task.

-a confident find by Rivera and staff...was wanting V Curry or the DT-NT from Washington but Alexander looks good as well.

Alexander is technically sound. He has a very high football IQ. He knows how to stay in his lane and force the RB to run in the direction the defense wants him to run. The problem with Hardy was that he always lost contain, and was not a heady player. I have watched every OU game the last 6 years (give or take), and I'd say that Alexander is better against the run than Hardy, but as of now, I think Hardy is the better pass rusher. Although, Alexander has improved his game every year.. so I am excited to see him in a Panther uni. Rivera loves smart players, and he will grade out very well.. I could see Alexander starting over Hardy based simply on the fact that Hardy loses contain too often and has too many mental lapses.
