We wouldn't have drafted Kuechly if he couldn't play OLB.

Wouldn't it make more sense for Beason to play the "less athetlic" position coming off an achilles injury anyways?

MLB plays sideline to sideline....OLB has more of one side of the field to deal with. Actually, it makes a lot of sense to move Beason to OLB

That was true with our previous defense but not in every defense. I don't know enough to comment on whether or not this defense calls for that type of linebacker but I know that Jim Johnson did not have sideline to sideline middle linebackers.

This conversation is very premature. If we were deciding today, Beason wouldn't be more than 75%. He says 80% but expect him to paint a positive picture. Still we need to see who is best at what position once July rolls around. It should be the fastest, best player in the middle regardless of the past. If that is Beason then it belongs to him. If it is Luke then Beason needs to go outside where he can continue to rehab and work back into form. This situation will likely evolve over the next few months. As others have said, it is great to have choices.

I think it'll be Kuechly on the inside and Beason on the outside. Kuechly is an incredibly cover LB, which means he needs to be inside to fully unleash that potential. If you put him on the outside, teams won't fear the blitz, until he can show that he can, indeed, blitz from the LB position.

Beason on the outside allows for more versatility. And honestly, I don't know if his drop in production is because Connor wasn't as a good as he was, causing Beason to have to try and do more than he was supposed to. Maybe with a beast like Kuechly playing MLB, Beason knows he has the freedom to prowl around on the outside, while Kuechly gets production in the middle.

If you think Kuechly is a good cover LB wouldn't you want him at the weakside? If he isn't good at blitzing and disengaging blockers you don't want him to be in the inside where he faces bigger lineman.

I think our starters will be Kuechly, Beason, and Anderson. However, in an attempt to limit his snaps, I believe that Davis will sub in for Anderson on passing downs, seeing as that is the only real weakness to Anderson's game, and it is one of TD's strong suits. Kuechly's size will be a benefit in pass coverage and pass rushing situations. It is a lot easy for a guy 6-3(Kuechly) to cover a guy that is 6-6 than a guy that is 6-0(Beason).
