Expectations For Joe Adams

Combine 40s are without pads. Guys run differently with pads. 40 times are also more about acceleration to top speed rather than the actual top end speed. He may take .25 seconds longer to get to top speed, but his top speed might be faster than someone with a 4.3 40. It's really a poor evaluator for speed itself.

Essentially, don't put too much weight in 40 times. The dude is fast on tape and on the field. He should consistently get us more yards than Armanti since he's actually done it and isn't being put into a situation where he has to learn how to do it. It's natural.

You do realize that was a run and not PR?

Yep, it just made me think about how energizing his punt returns are. Had a feeling someone would catch that but i didnt feel like editing and explaining.

Understood. I just didn't want you to be like, "Oh poo 92 yard PR against Auburn" in the future and have some elitist jerk say something.

You can't pretend like 40s don't matter. They do. The combine 40 is the only constant for the majority of prospects. Players play against different teams in different weather conditions with different injuries.

Pro day 40s are always faster than the combine. However the combine treats everyone equally. Steve Smith claims to have run in the 4.2 s when he was younger. So my point that Joe is not as fast as Steve stands. Admittedly Steve ran his combine in the old building so not everything was equal for them.

There is a difference between someone that runs a 4.55 and a 4.39. It is discernible to the eye. He does look pretty quick in pads but at least I have a number to back up my point. Some of you are stating opinion as fact based on your untrained eyes.
