Who Were We Targeting In The 3Rd Round?

There was a lot of talk during the 2nd round about trading up to get into the 3rd Round. We were unsuccessful, but who were we targeting? Joe Adams? Frank Alexander? Someone else? Would it have been a same scenario trade, such as next year's 2nd, plus a later round this year?

I've been wondering about this because if it was one of the same players we picked up in the 4th, this could've ended badly. Makes me a little nervous, but I'm not sure what the plan was.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

I thought the team was going to do something with the Dolphins. But I don't know who was on the radar. They take what everyone thought was the obvious need in the 4th. That muddies the water for me on how they were valuing each round.

Hurney was said to be visibly upset all night Friday night. Moping around the stadium, kicking trash cans, slapping walls. He really was hoping to give away our 2nd rounder next year. I bet he wanted to get Anger

Where did you hear this?

Hurney's tendency to trade next year's pick is self perpetuating.

If he would just bite the bullet for one year he would have the pick without trading away our future. Marty, just stop already!

What make this worse is to watch well managed teams stockpile picks while we give ours away for questionable talent.

On a video posted on Panther.com Hurney said that they were trying to trade up into the 3rd for Alexander because they really liked him but thought he would be gone early in the 3rd. When they found out he wasn't going in the 3rd they changed their approach to getting two 4ths to get both Adams and Alexander.

Don't have a link as I have the Panthers iPhone app on my phone. Sorry.

come on guys........................it's coach speak.

Do you really think the Panthers wanted the headlines in the paper to read..........

"Panthers try to trade up in the 3rd for so and so but settle for Alexander in the 4th" ??

they always say who they got is who they were targeting.
