Which Saturday Draft Choice Has The Best Chance To Get Playing Time This Season?

I think Norman has a good shot of starting opposite of Gamble. He and Hogan will be competing for that spot but I see Capt being the primary Nickle. People forget just how good he was in that position. But a lot will depend on the WRs they are facing and whos on the field. It will depend a lot on the match ups.

But I have a god feeling about Norman. I think we might just be the starter....hey it's now officially the offseason and nothing is really happening for three months so hope and speculation is all we have.

He has the size (6'0", 200) to start. His arms are long too. He will be 25, so he is not being groomed for the future. His straight line speed is not good, but his reaction time is good and his hips are not stiff. If we ask him to run with gazelles, he will suck. I am sure we put him in a position to succeed.

My bets are Alexander and Norman, primarily based on the depth at those positions.

I love Adams, but I think they're going to let him primarily focus on returns as a rookie with maybe a few plays drawn up to feature him on offense. I'm just not sure he'll get much run on offense ahead of guys who already have a year in the system. Gotta think he'd be #5 on the depth chart this year behind Smitty, LaFell, Gettis, and Pilares. Maybe he surprises though.

I really think our CB depth chart will be completely open after Gamble. We have to get better in the secondary.

Our DEs behind CJ and Hardy are a bunch of nobodies. Kaiser and Applewhite are decent situational guys, but we don't have another DE on the roster that you'd feel at all comfortable plugging in as a starter if someone went down.

In one of the interviews, Rivera says Norman will be a bit of a project- I expect we will only see him a limited amount of time this season and maybe even next - I expect Gamble and Hogan to start at CB.

I think Alexander will see the most significant amount of playing time this season.

Captain WILL be the starter week one, bank on it.

I sure as hell hope not. If it was still the Fox regime, I'd guarantee it. Fox loved sticking with his vets. However, Captain just can't start. I think he's a decent sub-package CB, but he's not a starting CB. He had to be among the worst starting CBs in the NFL last year. I don't blame that on him, it was just the situation that we were in. He was having to play a role he just isn't suited to play.

I'm hoping Hogan can push him into the nickel role immediately and that Norman can push him in that role as the season progresses. Dimeback is where I'd feel comfortable with Captain playing.

Alexander will be the 1st to get snaps other than ST, but I think we will work Adams in for a few select packages.

I like Norman, but he will need some time to develop. Hogan will probably start at #2 with Butler coming in for nickle packages. I think Captain's time at CB is over unless we suffer injuries.

Campbell will probably never see the field other than ST.

He's a little undersized at 270, but he's got a great motor and decent moves. Long arms, I think he'll be a solid rotation guy this year. Put on some muscle over the next year or two and he could very well be a very good starter.

Exactly. I see an Al Wallace type of guy in Alexander.

Alexander will be part of the rotation.

I find it entertaining, all the folks that are giving a lot of credit to Rivera, while placing much blame on past drafts on Hurney.

The Panthers have always had three guys that have input on draft decisions since hurney has been here. HC, director of scouting, and Hurney.

These are the same guys that setup the team draft board.

The only year that would be the exception, was fox's last year. Even then, he still was part of the process until draft day.

Like I said I think it will depend a lot on the matchups week to week. His speed will limit him to matching up more to possession type recievers. Remember that when Rivera was hired he said he wants a team that can adjust not only within a game but even week to week with each team. At least to me I'm really starting to see that this year in the makeup of this team.
