In The First Round Of The 2013 Draft The Panthers Select?

I think we'll probably end up picking some guy who's not even on the radar right now because the college season hasn't even begun and guys tend to come out of nowhere after a good season in college. If i had to guess i think well be going bpa between cb and safety in round 1 and bpa between whichever of those positions loses out and de in round 2.I still say that any dt's we bring in are probably gonna be vets at this point.

It does not take a rocket scientist to watch one Preseason game last week and know we should be addressing the Safety position next year. RR have said they had Mark Barron ranked higher than Kuechly after the draft. If Barron was still on the board, we wouldve probably drafted him over Kuechly, eventhough we brought in Nakamura and Smith already.

-If Norman can just plays better than Munnerlyn this year, we can pass on a CB. If not, it could be either a CB/S in the first.

-Oline is just out of the question unless something serious occur.

-We wont be picking a DT unless we have a chance at taking a Star or Hankins (if they're productive this season). Also, RR will say he just drafted two young DTs in the 3rd round two years ago. Possibly bring in a vet DT to shore up that spot.

just because of how long imo it takes for DTs to develop, unless it's some real ready to go stud DT in the draft, i'd rather address DT in FA or via trade. i think the rest of the defense can be better addressed in the draft than DT.

it wouldn't bother me at all for the top half of the draft to be focused on DBs.

that said, i'm hoping that we have enough guys step up in the secondary that it isn't as much a need so we don't bitch when the team goes BPA again.

If Justin Hunter somehow finds his way into the 2nd round, I'd take him in a heartbeat. Good size and speed for a WR. When you watch him you just know he knows how to play the game. The only "concern" with him and maybe it slips him to mid-2nd round is he is coming of a ACL injury.

If Norman shows something at CB in the regular season I think we'll be fine at corner. If somebody out of Lafell, Gettis, Murphy or Pilares begins to emerge as a legitimate #2 and 3, we'll be OK at receiver. Personally, I think we look at DT or OT next year in the first two rounds. If none of the players above pan out, CB WR DT and OT are all fair game IMO.

Why do people not get that Smitty isn't getting any younger, and won't be finding the fountain of youth? EVEN IF Gettis and LaFell emerge as legit #2, and #3 WR's, that still leaves a GAPING hole at the #1 spot. This team needs to find Smitty's eventual replacement, and they need to do it now. If they wait another two years to get a young promising #1, Cam will be left with no truly elite weapon in the passing game in a couple of years.....
