Knowing they need plenty of cheap labor, the Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with at least 17 undrafted rookies.

The team hasn't announced the signings as being official, as some of the players won't sign contracts until they arrive later this week. But multiple reports, circulated by players' hometown papers and college sports information departments, have confirmed most of the signings.

As expected, the Panthers went heavily for linemen on both sides of the ball, with seven so far.

No, it's usually 8 to 12, IIRC. Shows me that they think they are close to something and are pulling out all stops...

That's because the Panthers have more roster spots open than they normally do.

im glad were giving alot of these guys a shot this year. u never know when one of these guys will turn into something special. if anything well have the best practice squad in the league! lol

He was a projected late 2nd to 3rd round pick by everyone (except 32 teams front offices )

Anyway, it sounded like his phone was ringing off the hook but the Panthers made the best offer and the best promise, that he would be directly backing up Gross. Sounds like a spot on the final roster is already in the plans for him.

So Squirrel, when Pat White went right after the Panthers pick, did your TV survive what you threw at it or is it still at the repair shop?

It survived. At that point I figured Pats would grab White before we would have. No the question is when the Panthers moved up who thought we was getting White. I thought for just a second but didnt think they would.

He definitely has a good chance. Good team for him to compete for a QB spot...
