Carolina Panthers Draft Brad Nortman, Punter, Wisconsin

Also Butler who is deep power guy may not be aS directionally skilled*in the short field to pin a team in the 10yrd line.

Hangtime id the key for a good punter with distance..if a grade is within a few points they are basically the same.

Also Nortman sounds like a freaking Viking kicking into the THUNDERDOME! ....afterall he controls the weather because Thor is his father.

*dull Ninja assessment from draft gurus info.

When you question any decision a player makes on the field this season, I'm calling you out. It's fine if you want to call those out who disagree now, just realize it comes back your way if you do it in October.

That's stupid, but okay.

I'm not really saying that Nortman will have a better career than Butler, wherever he goes. I'm just saying that questing a FO because they did their research and you think someone else is the better player is just really silly. Especially for a position like a punter.

If I question Nortman, Cam, Smitty, whoever, it'll be because they really made a mind boggling decision Doesn't mean I won't support the player. Feel free to call me out but it'll be really silly. :V

It's not stupid, I put more emphasis into who our punter is than most and I realize that. If that's who they wanted all along great. He gets his shot. I just have some reservations is all. Punter is more important than many on here think. Just because you don't punt on Madden doesn't mean in real life it's not a major spot. Regardless, I recognize every pick is a crapshoot.

No I know it's important. Special teams is very important and I know that having a good punter will work wonders for our team. So I'm hoping Nortman does a great job.

With that said; I don't know who's better. Butler might be better. I can't say for sure because I've never saw either one of them kick. But I'm trusting Ron and the scouting teams evaluation. If they feel like his hangtime is great and he'll be more helpful to our team than Butler, than I'll go with that.

But if Nortman ends up falling on his ass and just being damn terrible, I'll cal both him and the Coach out. But for right now I'm just going to trust that Ron's doing what he thinks is best for our team.

And fwiw I punt all the time in madden because I am terrible.

Without the "the FO knows more, canned insult, canned insult" response, explain why you choose someone who isn't as good as other punters available. Genuine question. I'm not the only one posing it.

you have to ask the person doing the drafting..

and I rarely punt in Madden.. talkin' mad skillz yo...

Are you making fun of me?

Well, I was just reporting what Rivera said to Brandt. if you think that was a stupid thing to say, tell him.

Nope.

I was trying to make a point to others that they didn't just draw this guys name from a hat and was using your info that they tracked his hang time to do it.

Sorry for any confusion there.

    • I compared him to Chinn as well, and several skallers on here screamed, "Different Position" but did not mention why that was a valid point.  It is a criticism of the coaches and system being a match.  I just compared Luvu to Walker (hybrid LBs) and some unbreastfed Huddler said Walker was destined to be a superstar because he is (and he listed characteristics that describe Luvu).  Point?  Luvu was a solid player with the same skill set and we let him walk.  Am I to believe that Walker is the messiah now?  If Pearce is there with Walker, Pearce is the pick. He had a good combine.
