I Love This Draft

You are making sense to me. Everyone wants to trash MH for not drafting DT. We were never going to draft DT. I think, by next year, we could have Kuechly, Silatolu, and Norman as starters. The first two will be pro bowlers very soon. Adams and Alexander will contribute in rotations, we will also have a punter from this draft. Heck, Gil Brandt said we got a steal with DJ Campbell, the seventh round S. He is smart and a great special teamer.

People want to cry about the DT situation. FEW DTs do well as rookies. The reason everyone is screaming for a DT? We had 3 rookies starting last year! They will improve from year 1 to year 2. Throwing another DT at the situation gives us another rookie DT that will suck.

Great draft--possibly the best ever. I give RR the credit.

MHS....are you Marty Hurney??

At first glance, I wasn't so happy with the Luke Kuechly pick, but, I was glad it wasn't Quinton Coples. As the time wore on, and I thought about the situation, I realized how much I absolutely loved the Kuechly pick, and how he will be an instant upgrade to our LB corp, making it one of the best in the NFL. Whether be plays Will or Mike, he will provide an immediate impact to our team, and give James Anderson a break for a while, allowing him to make plays outside of the box.

Funny how most of experienced the same emotions and then came to realize in the end how well this draft actually ended up. Nice post!

(I do think that Kuechly will be the Mike, moving Beason outside to the Will. It will allow Kuechly to play coverage over the middle, allow Beason to prowl one side of the field, and blitz like a mad-man.)

Then, we took Silatolu. I definitely did not like the pick, especially since Tru Johnson was still on the board. However, I thought about it last night, and I realized that, if Silatolu is as good as everyone thinks he is, our left side of the offensive line is going to be mean, and it needs to be. We need to protect Cam's blindside. We need to protect him. Silatolu gives us someone who will solidify that position for ten years, becoming an anchor to the line. Good pick.

Everyone freaked out about the trade for Frank Alexander, but I love it. He has been cleared to play, no heart conditions. One of the analysts said it was all Riley Reiff could do to hold him off. He's fast from what I've seen, he has an impact, and Hurney said he could come in and play immediately. Also, he gives us a guy to light a fire underneath Hardy's ass. No more motorcycle accidents, Kraken, it's time you get to playin', or else Alexander's going to be starting.

Then we get to Joe Adams. Mother of God. This guy. He's an absolute monster. He can return punts, kicks, play slot receiver, play running back, it doesn't really matter. He can do it all. I honestly think he'll be Offensive Rookie of the Year. He is that kind of special. He has fumbled 11 times in his career, but, some of those are counted as muffed punts early in his career. I wouldn't worry about it. He's going to be a monster in the NFL. The next Percy Harvin, but without the migraines.

Then comes Josh Norman. I heard the only reason he didn't go in the 2nd round, was because he's from such a small school. But, he gives size to our DBs, he's fast, and has really long arms. He apparently is a special teams monster, too (he blocked 4 kicks in his career). He's friends with Mike Tolbert, and he played High School ball with Armanti. So, he has some friends coming into the team, which generates good chemistry.

Now, all we need is Drew Butler and BPA, and we're going to be stacked for next year.

I am not sold on either Fua or McClain, but you can't fix every fault in one draft. All you can ask is that we select quality players and they are then given a chance to contribute.

As to the DT's, I like Neblett, Edwards should be okay, but the rest are still unknowns. It would be nice to pick up a decent 3 tech after June 1st cuts.
