We get our hopes up every year with this mid round WR pick. What is this, the 6th year in a row we've selected a mid round WR, and 4th year in a row a returner?

He is a legit stud at PR. At WR, I think he is depth.

There's a difference between gameday speed (live action speed) and drill (combine) speed. This guy has explosiveness when it matters. Also he is able to create separation with his sharp cutting ability. He'll do great as a slot guy/ PR/KR/ occasional scatback.

That is why i said I'm hopeful he has gameday speed, but judging by the OP highlight video he got caught a lot, but i guess he does have a few nice highlights we'll see.

Yeah people put too much stock in 40 times. Watch some of his returns. He is covering about 4 yards per stride. You don't outrun the SEC without speed. He is going to be the best return man we've had since Smitty if he can absorb the contact. He's a little on the small side but as long as he holds onto the ball I have high hopes for him.

Joe Adams is a guy who does not slow down when pads are put on. Damn sure plays faster than Marvin Jones for example who ran 4.46. Straight line speed is not everything, kid can accelerate and juke guys out of their shoes.

"I arrived in Mobile last week for Senior Bowl practices whole-heartedly believing that we would get a glimpse of one of this year’s top kick returners in Joe Adams. I was not expecting that, in Adams, everyone in attendance would be getting a glimpse of one of this year’s top WR prospects, period. That is exactly what we got.

He followed up a strong week of Senior Bowl practices on both offense and special teams with an 8 reception, 133-yard offensive performance in the Senior Bowl game. He was always open, and made optimal use of his shifty cutting ability in space to gain yards-after-catch. Adams is listed at 5’11″ but is actually closer to 5’10″. He’s not physically imposing or particularly impressive walking into a room in plain clothes.

Once the pads go on, though, he is a fearless rocket who gets separation from DBs at the drop of a hat. He has an ability as a receiver that I find hard to describe, but the easiest way to do so is by stating that Joe Adams has a knack for getting open. Not just on easy, scripted routes, either. He’s creative when the pocket breaks down and he puts himself in smart spots that help his QB. He has an innate “hustle” and sense of urgency to his game that allows him to play bigger than he is. Throw in a sub-4.4 40-yard dash time and the most impressive speed cut of any South Team WR (Sorry Dwight Jones), and you have an explosive package in Adams that many NFL teams would happily embrace, and which some desperately covet.

He started off his Senior Bowl game with a short catch on a simple hitch route, and proceeded to fumble the football while fighting for extra yards. Displaying an intangible attribute of most great NFL WR’s, he showed a “short memory” not letting the error get him messed up in the head. He went on to be the South team’s undeniable offensive spark throughout the game in the split number of reps players receive in all-star games. A case could be made that he was the “true” game-MVP although the award would never go to a member of the losing team. Had the South won, Joe Adams would be your Senior Bowl MVP.

As far as I am concerned, Joe Adams is a second-round pick at the latest, and I think the most likely destinations are the Philadelphia Eagles (where I had him pegged as a replacement for Desean Jackson after watching one day of practices) or the Baltimore Ravens who would love a dynamic slot WR to compliment Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin; as well as someone returning kicks who is not a valuable future All-Pro CB like LaDarius Webb.

We’ll be interested in seeing how he runs at the combine and what the scouts are saying there, but Joe Adams knocked his Senior Bowl out of the park. He came to do one thing: Show he can be an offensive weapon (and not just a gadget receiver who returns kicks) in a true-game situation with professional coaching against elite talent. Running a 4.38 40-time is gonna be the easy part for him. Trust me. Kid has wheels."

I know it is hearsay, but if both Kirkpatrick and Jenkins say he can run routes, I see no reason not to believe he may see the field as a slot guy. Considering we do not have a true slot reciever.

I am with most. It is exciting to have a player of this quality coming to OUR team. I got tired of watching these type players go to other teams. I am so glad we finally got OURS. This will just give opposing Ds something more to worry about if Chud can get him on the field 10-15 plays a game. Or more if it works.

This has my giddy going nuts. And GOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am with most. It is exciting to have a player of this quality coming to OUR team. I got tired of watching these type players go to other teams. I am so glad we finally got OURS. I am interested to see how many carriers Cameron gets this year. I would hope his carries go down, but his scrambles go up. I say he scrambles more out of a feeling than anything. I see him concentrating on moving the chains. So if he sees an opening he may take off quicker than he did last year. Nothing drastic, just to keep the D guessing. He just seemed a little hesitant to just take off last year. I can see him taking those opportunities this year. Take the quick gain, grab an easy first down, keep the D from teeing off. That kind of thing.

We have Otah on a contract year, whether that means anything in this case is anyones guess. But players have a way of showing up in these type years. We got that Somoan dude to bolster the O-line. I would say Chud is in chud heaven about now. Cuz I know he is dreaming up ways to get the ball to Adams out in space. One more weapon... is never enough.

I know some will complain about the D, but hell, I do not care. We have the offensive weapons to put the fear of Zod into the rest of the league. In all my years as a fan, I have never been able to say that. And I like it.........
