This Draft Is Better Than You Think

Recommended Posts

We took an incredible value with Kuechly at #9.

I'm sorry to say that Thomas Davis is in his last days, he's played 9 games in the past two seasons. 3 ACL's is enough. Love his heart and desire to come back, he's a great player both on and off the field. Kuechly if anything will allow Davis to extend his career just a little longer, not forcing him to come back sooner than necessary. Davis if anything, will be the package LB rushing the passer.

With Beason coming off of an Achillies injury it's even better having such a young talent playing on the field until he's ready to go as well. Beason still has his best years ahead of him, a true leader. Beason himself said he would love Kuechly on the team (granted he said the same thing about some of the larger DT's). Regardless who plays MLB and WLB, both will be a force on the field.

We have what many scouts say he is a future Brian Urlacher, an incredibly intelligent instictive player that is one of the best coverage LB's to come out in years, and that's a great asset with the likes of TE's such as Graham, Gonzalez, and the many others infiltrating the NFL. He's going to be quite the talent to watch, and you can bet your ass his name will be called a lot after making a tackle, a true force to be reckoned with.

OG/OT Silatolu at #40

Was slightly confused at first. But after a little research and recognizing the BPA strategy, I was satisfied. Scratch that, I'm estastic at the idea we got an impact player on the offensive line. We have two incredible running backs that will benefit greatly from this guys run blocking ability. Not to mention more protection for Cam. He was highly touted by numerous scouts. Since there was such a run on pass rushers in the 1st round, Silatolu falling to us turned out great. Jeff Otah is inconsistent with his unfortunate plague of injuries, and Byron Bell may or may not get it done as a consistent RT (Bell's job depends on himself, and whether the coaches play Silatolu at OG or RT).

As far as BPA, remember Ryan Kalil in the 2nd round. He's a pro-bowl center. I'm not comparing Silatolu to Kalil, but I am saying BPA has its perks.

I know a lot of you wanted a DT, DE, and CB. Hell I was hoping for that too, but I'm satisfied in the route we took in this draft and trust our coaches/front office. We filled positiions of need and have players that will come in and start.

FOR TLDR PEOPLE:

Kuechly and Silatolu will make an immediate impact to our team, regardless of what you skeptics believe, our front office and coaches are more knowledgable than you on prospects. We have made great picks these past two days and I'm excited for the season.

It's not that people don't like Silatolu, or think he won't be an immediate starter. Honestly, I think he will.

What people don't like about the pick, is that he does nothing to improve the side of the ball we had to watch get shredded last season. Our offense was Top 5. Awesome. Our defense was horrendous. People didn't like watching Drew Brees have 3, 4, or 5 seconds to just stand around, find an open guy, throw for 30+ yards.

With guys like Trumaine Johnson and Vinny Curry still on the board, some in the fanbase are sore that the team didn't take someone to rush/shut down Brees.

Why are you worried about the Saints former QB?

I honestly think we did nothing but tread water this draft. I see the bucs greatly improving with the offseason people they signed and greatly through the draft. They fixed actual problems with their team. We got a guy in the first who is a great player but, unless TD or beason or anderson gets injured is on the bench. Nothing to improve the pass rush or pass coverage. SO you think we'll fix that in the second you know what we do...we go guard. In a league that has franchise qb's on every team we did nothing to combat that threat. More bree's throwing for first down on 3rd and 5 and now we can add the bucs to that list.

Past the first round hurney has made sRo many blunders that it's hard for me to be all that postive on the pick for OG.. all we can do is just wait and see how it pans out.

Legit statement.

Can't really evaluate a draft for a few years. No telling how the picks pan out. Huge busts high and late round guys having big success prove it is truly a crapshoot.
