Amini Silatolu Is A Superstar, Shut Up.

I love how 2 Third Round rookie DTs that didn't have OTAs last year are somehow busts and that a 2nd round rookie this year would be a upgrade...but you feel comfortable protecting Cam with a reject from the worst team last year, some dude we traded Mike Goodson for, a 7th rounder from last year who didn't suit up. Travelle was a pretty solid guard and that left side being strong was a reason Cam did so well, he needed replaced. (but don't get me wrong, I wish he would have just taken a paycut like he did to play for Cinci)

Pollack and Campbell can play G. What pisses me off is people claiming this guy will automatically come in and be better than them. Even if they don't have the most impressive resume, they have played and started in the NFL. This guy hasn't taken a snap in the NFL and "mauled" D2 bums. Color me unimpressed and not excited when we need help at DT and CB on one of the worst defense in the NFL.

Great response. Anyone with football intellect wanna tell me who would be better then Silatolu?

Not many can answer that truthfully because their entire opinion of this draft class is based off a Walterfootball mock. Silatolu is a monster and is a good VALUE pick, not a reach. There were plenty of teams who were considering him at the end of the 1st round.

Also, consider this: guard is one of the safer positions to take. Hurney's previous busts in the 2nd have almost all been skill position players. Hurney also knows OL - like Ryan Kalil, the last 2nd round OL he drafted that everyone said we didn't need and we should've gone defense with the pick over.

In 2 years we'll be looking back wondering how big a hole we'd have on the OL without this monster protecting Cam. You guys do realize Mike Pollak was going to be our starting left guard, right?

Tip: just because you've never heard of a player in the draft - or seen him raved about by Todd McShay - doesn't mean it's a bad pick. And for all these folks preaching that we need to draft based on needs... that's how busts happen. You take the BPA, hands down.

Not that, you know, protecting our stud QB is a need or anything...

There were 3 OL drafted after this guy who are all proven better simply because they played against other players who are also being drafted.

It's too late to stop this bandwagon, but as an NFL prospect on the O-line, aren't you only as good as your competition? And if he's so damn good, why wasn't he playing for a quality football program? I'm sure there are a lot of guys who'd look good against the likes of Angelo State, Tarleton State, Incarnate Word and Missouri S&T... I don't even know what an "S&T" school is... Science and Technology?

Not a position of immediate need. It's easier to plug in holes at guard with training camp cuts from another team or a veteran free agent. Hate this pick in this spot. This is a 7th round type decision in the 2nd round.

Yes, that's why nobody ever drafts OGs. Especially in the first. That would be insane.

Good OL aren't built in the 7th round.

What qualifications do you have that you assure that Hurney is actually drafting the BPA. Conveniently for you, this guy isn't a second round skill player, so he isn't part of the trend? I hate people using the draft trends to say a pick is going to be bad or good, and I hate it on both sides. What I do find important is how a team is built and how sucessful is it. I guess you could say conveniently for me Hurney is 3 of 11. If you think this team is actually built well, look at the Giants. Elite QB play, Elite passrushers. They also always have 5 guys at receiver that can play, good secondary. and most importantly they dont tie up resources like first round picks and money at LB and RB, so that they can get these guys and keep them around. They have two guys at LB that you guys would freak out with happyness if they were in our D-line rotation considering how much you guys like Fua, McClain, Kearse, Neblett, Shirley.

They are in the 4th thru 6th round.

Carl Nicks 4th round

Jarhri Evans 6th round.

Oh, you mean bc you can name players drafted in rounds 4 - 6 it means teams focus on those rounds for the silly little OL.
