Carolina Panthers Draft Amini Silatolu Og Midwestern

Yea, the Panther's could've went a different direction. I didn't see anyone at DT or DE that would've came in and started over Edwards, McClain or Hardy right from the start. Minus Coples at DE and he had a lot of question marks (even though I liked him as a 4-3 DE. I though he was better served to be a DT or 3-4 End.

CB is a different story, but the team doesn't think of it as a need. They drafted Hogan to be the starter and knew he wouldn't play much last season. This is his rookie season, it's just like drafting any other CB in this draft minus Claiborne or Gillmore.

Anyone else would've been depth or just ST help for this upcoming season, the Panther's went out and turned their first three picks into 3 starters with pro bowl potential. You can't ask for any more then that from your team. LB wasn't a bad pick with all the question marks and Kuechly instantly improves the run defense on the edges, IMO. The two guards that the Panther got in FA were marginal players, where Silatolu is a potential pro bowl player. The panther's didn't have that at Guard, much less one with that plays with such a mean streak. (Something this offense was missing last season, imo.)

I understand a lot of you being angry about the panthers taking a player you haven't been told about in the second round, but how, HOW, of all positions, can you doubt the team when it comes offensive linemen at this point?

Uh huh. Fail.

When you uses a quote, read the entire quote.

Then you would realize that he was having trouble with speed rushers off the edge. The scouting profile is made of him playing LT. He is a LG here and will not going up againts speed rushers off the edge.

But looking at the guys we bring in and draft on the line, it is looking like Rivera wants guys you can play more than one spot if needed.

2011 NFL Rankings:

Carolina Panthers Defense: 28th Overall (yds/gm)

Carolina Panthers Offense: 7th Overall (yds/gm)

It has nothing to do with players I know because 99.999999999999% of you didn't know who the f*ck this guy was before the draft process started. The same percentage have never seen this guy play a snap of football until Kiper or Mayock gave you analysis on him after we picked him.

My point is we have 9 or more guys who CAN start on OL. With all of our starters from last year coming back from that 7th ranked offense and Cam having another year of reps and experience under his belt.

The guy could come out and be the next Hutchinson, but my point is we were set with what we had, and could possibly even have been better without him considering the additions of Campbell and Pollack.

The offense just need some quality depth across the board. The defense needed to be revamped.

Think about how many spots on the offense you look at and say, "Whoa, that guy sucks! We need an upgrade!"

Now think about defense.

That's why I'm not a fan of the pick.

Ask anyone on that chat the day before the draft, CardiacCats, anyone, I was pimping out Silatolu. I'm not just blindly supporting Hurney like a stepford fan, I absolutely love the pick and wanted it to happen.

We both came to the conclusion that we have our opinions though and that we just gotta sit back and enjoy that game.

Silatolu was also taken in the recent Carolina Huddle Draft in the 2nd round.

Back in March.

I'm sure he was, the niners wanted this guy in the 1st.

I have no clue why people think he is some guy nobody knew from some piece of crap school.
