Carolina Panthers Draft Amini Silatolu Og Midwestern

Recommended Posts

Meh, Midwestern has produced 4 (now 5) NFL players and 1 Pro Bowler so far.

Miss. Valley State has produced 3 Pro Bowlers.

Neither school would be considered a hot bed for NFL talent.

3 probowlers for any college is a nice thing to brag about imo.

Hence why I said crapshoot.. they aren't always right.. give me a break.

Its true that some of the small college players look better than they really are due to lack of opposing talent. Of couse, its also true that some of those big college players look better than they really are because they play on teams that have far more talent than their opponents. Either way, its still a crapshoot.

everyone should've expected this, the team feels good about the defense because of Edwards and Beason coming back from the Injuries. Add in Kuechly to the mix and that's a solid LB core that's good against the run and in zone coverage.

Silatolu was generally rated higher then Glenn by most scouts and is a nasty player, something the oline needed. He should start immediately at LG and go out and knock Defensive players on their backside.

SOLID pick is SOLID. If nothing else the guy is easy to spot on the field, he's the monster always tossing DE's and LB's around like fugging ragdolls. Obviously he won't have it that easy in the NFL, but I like this guy's aggression, work ethic, and potential. I tend to like some of the smaller school guy's like this, they always report for duty with something to prove and play like they are on fugging fire when given the opportunity (ie. Brad Hoover, London Fletcher, Jerry Rice, Pierre Garcon, etc...) So far I give our two picks a collective B+ to A grade. Ready for us to take a WR (Joe Adams or Nick Toon) or a CB (Alfonzo Dennard or Brandon Boykin) with our 4th pick though.

I don't have a link from my phone, but I remember a report on him:

The gist of it was that he was being targeted by the Steelers in the first (DeCastro fell to them) and that he was "an evil monster that could potentially be a Pro Bowler within two years."

The video clips of him seem to bear that out. Definitely nasty. He looks like he eats kittens for breakfast.

I think if he were asked to provide a job description, it would read "I throw people".

He does it very well. lol I like the pick myself. He's a nasty and mean OG who can swing out and play tackle in a pinch. He's athletic and has good technique feet wise. Should be the starter for the next 10 years at LG.

I think "a meanie" will turn out to be an appropriate name.

Silatolu can pull block like a mofo. He's strong and quick to the attack with great footwork. Usually how you analyze talent below Division I is how well they dominate competition and from the video Silatolu just threw people out of the way. Say whatever you want about need, I wanted a DT, but Silatolu will be our Left Guard come August.
