I think that the defense will be the same starting lineup next year unless somehow we trade peppers which i dont see or martin impresses in camp and starts across from gamble as he fits the tampa 2 better than marshall. brayton will start at DE. At this point Brown is just a situational player for us.

Yeah, your probably right but I see Johnson, Diggs and Connor all fighting for that spot at least. Maybe just Johnson and Diggs really but I like Connor.

though... i hope we get j. kyle back instead of jansen. You just don't screw around with that kind of consistency. We will see what our $$$ situation looks like

They signed another long snapper UDFA yesterday from Cali so that probably puts the final nail in the coffin for Kyle.

Delhomme, Williams, Hoover, King, Smith, Moose, Gross, Wharton, Kalil, Robinson, Otah

Godfrey, Harris, Marshall, Gamble, Diggs, Beason, Davis, Peppers, Robertson, Kemo, Brayton.

Changes from last season are in red.

I don't have a clue who we'll use at PR/KR, but it should be an interesting battle.

JOAT why would be want to replace a veteran linemen for a 5 round player? There were reasons this guy dropped to the 5th round. I think it is way too soon to give this guy the nod over Vincent. In the long run I hope you are correct but I would imagine we don't mess with a good thing until one goes down.

As far at Robertson over Lewis. Not sure I follow the logic there. Our issues at DT was depth not so much the starting 2. What makes you feel this way about Robertson?

The thing about Connor is I dont think he can play outside. i never understood the pick

I hadn't heard that before.... Not sure where jonathan28 gets his info.

What you people don't seem to realize is that Connor played OLB at PSU his first three years until Posluzny graduated. If he can do it in the Big 10, I think we should at least give him a shot at it in the NFL.

No doubt. It would seem to me that if he can play the middle and go sideline to sideline then playing OLB shouldn't be too much of an adjustment.

Where is our resident defensive expert when we need him?

I think if Connor is 100% by the start of the season he has a chance to surpass Diggs as our Sam, but I doubt he'll take that spot until next year at the earliest. The major advantage Diggs has is experience.

I give Diggs the slight edge over Connors for experience but this is a different philosophy with Meeks and both will be on the same learning curve. Connors has youth and Diggs experience. We have for about the last 3 or 4 seasons tried to replace Diggs and he always comes through on top. Either way they will keep the best player on the field.
