Did The Browns Do The Worst Trade Ever?

Tampa really liked Richardson and they were talking to Minny about it (don't know how serious the talks were). Browns would have been screwed if they missed on him because Holmgren has never liked WR early so Blackmon was out, CB was not a need so Claiborne was out, LT was not a need so Kalil was out, Tannehill was not worth the #4 pick in their eyes (and they never really seemed sold on him). So what were they to do if they couldn't trade down?

Yeah, as others have said, this was a pick to make 100% sure that no one would trade with Minny. I bet the Vikings were on the phone with Cleveland saying "We have multiple trade partners, we are going to give you a chance to move up"

But if I'm Cleveland, I draft Tannehill at 4 or trade down to take him and wait until 22 and get either take David Wilson or Doug Martin, or trade down to take Wilson or Martin, just because it's a QB driven league and Colt McCoy sucks.

See i'm not sold on Tannehill. Weeden is a much better passer at this point.

You really don't know how these things work as far as value goes until you know how the player works out. If he's the next Jim Brown then it's more than worth it. If he's a bust then it was obviously too much to give it.

It's simply too early to determine much of anything other than the appearance of how the player fits the teams needs at the time.

No need to explain, just wait for him to take his place in the long list of running back busts.

Not everyday you get a 230 pound back with the sheer power and speed in the open field he's got. I'm not gonna speculate on him because RBs are like a trick question on a test, but he could easily be the piece to the puzzle that Cleveland needs.

I am not understanding how people are saying a 4th 5th and 7th are too much... a lot... or anything... More than likely the 7th round will not make the team... so a 4th and a 5th... Going by history (The average not the exceptions) If you are lucky maybe one of those project guys turn into solid role player and that's what you missed out on... But if you believe you have some gems to target there are other picks you can use to get those guys.

I maybe the only one who likes Weeden. A Younger Weeden would have gone much higher in the draft.

Love Weeden. He is better QB than Tannehill by far. But the age is what placed him below him. Tannheill was drafted based on potential. Weeden is more NFL-ready and it's not all because of his age.
