Panthers Working To Get A Pick In The 3Rd Round

only way to get a 3rd round pick with what we have is:

trade a player (which we all assume it would be Stewart)

trade back in the second pick up an extra 4th, then bundle the 2 4ths to get back in the 3rd

Ho about our 4th and a 6th for a mid 3rd

I have this delusion that some year they will catch up and stop trading picks.

Me too... I don't mind trading this year's 3rd for Olsen. That I can live with. But by and large, trading up has not worked so well for Hurney. And I say that at as someone who thinks more highly of him than most.

If they want a 3rd rounder this year, trade down in the 2nd. Don't gamble on the future yet again.

Every GM misses on some picks in the draft, and you have to live with that. While the Panthers whiffed on DeWayne Jarrett, they also got Ryan Kalil in that 2nd Round by trading back so you can't so it was that bad several years down the road.

But when you trade up and miss, it really hurts in building your team. That's why I think Armant Edwards and Everrette Brown are the 2 worst moves by Hurney.

Gave up a lot for both #33 and #15 respectively for guys that never made impact and one is gone and the other almost certainly will be come this August

Looking to line up partners to trade down and pick up third, that means a drop of ten to 12 spots however.

You're right, so if you feel you can't get a good player by dropping that far, then just pick where you are at and move on to wait on your pick in the 4th.
