I Do Not Hate Luke Keuchly

I am not a huge fan of the pick because it f*cked Thomas Davis, and I don't think that's right..... I also think that Beason is our man in the middle. He is one of the best in the league, why fug up a good thing.... We had such a bigger need on the Dline, and that's why I agree with OP.

Thomas Davis would be on the street of he played for another team....they also wouldn't of been so kind to him during that quirky contract issue. They took care of him....

Kuechly is the biggest linebacker on the team now, he is also the fastest linebacker on the team. Need to cover a big fast TE well why not use a big fast linebacker.

Agreed, I don't understand why some posters are criticising his speed. He is extremely fast for a linebacker. His 40 times are faster than Thomas Davis, and Davis is plenty fast. From all reports he accelerates well and has good game instincts.

That was a single example.

They won the Superbowl so it was easy to use them.

A dominate D-Line makes any scheme better.

How is this hard to understand is the better question.

It's not that hard to understand that just because we didn't take DL in the first doesn't mean we think the DL isn't important to this defensive scheme. You can't just write a player's name on a card and fix the front four. First rounders aren't magic.

If our Pro Bowl center was coming back from a serious injury it wouldn't be a bad idea.

it would be a bad idea IMO because it would ignore other team needs .. out pro bowl center would still be better than most centers

why not address team needs instead of stocking up on LB's or RB's (see Tolbert) by drafting BPA

maybe trade the pick for more picks or another player if what we need isn't there

we're gonna continue to have soft spots by drafting this way

Fwiw, its only one pick. I have been told that we have a few more coming. :)

haha yeah .. but no more first rounders!

I truly believe our secondary is secondary .. we're gonna get lit up again this season .. only our offense can save us .. we're gonna be forced to outscore everyone .. thank you little baby jesus for Cam

what if our probowl center has basically missed three consecutive years and what if one of his primary replacements (in a manner of speaking - admittedly Connor would come in at mic when beason was playing and slide him over) was just lost to FA? would it still be a bad pick then?

why would we let his primary replacement go in FA for below average $$ (Connor)? Especially with our pro bowl center coming off an injury? We should re-sign his replacement .. then draft another area that would help the team more .. with either player we would be fine at center so help the team elsewhere in the draft

For those who are upset with the #9 pick would also be upset for not picking Kuechly if Davis or Beason suffers a repeat injury because we do dnot have a quality player to replace them if needed. Conner is gone and this kid is rated a top 10 player and best lb in the draft. Let the dust settle and allow Rivera do his job. In three years you can then complain about the pick or just shut up.

if you think your FA backup isn't worth starting money, and if you desperately need to upgrade him anyway...

You can't count on someone making a return from three consecutive major injuries like that. To do so is foolish. TD is a backup for the foreseeable future, and he has been since he became injured last season.
