Well you do know, linebackers affect the run and passing game, right?

No.

but you give Ron Rivera the talent he wants.....and have them healthy......yeah, I think Graham can be stopped.

I really hope you guys are right because we just passed up on a 10 sack DT tonight.

We just drafted one guy who will take the Saints O almost by himself

.

So you are predicting that level of sucess?

I am saying a Von Miller type LB is not the only type LB worth a high pick......those examples show other 43 LBs have the impact to also be worth it.

I think Luke can be a Beason caliber LB.....maybe a little better.

Please name one other team that took a LB in the first today isn't a pass rush specialist.

What does that matter? Were there two Kuechlys on the board and I missed it?

well hindsight is just a dandy way to make an argument.

Willis was taken at 11... I mean come on. We're talking about #9 here. Not #3.

If Kuechly becomes a HoF LB, and a DLmen we could have had does the same, we made a mistake. His talent is meaningless.

Not to mention, since we're using hindsight, there's always great top 10 coverage LBs we can look at like Aaron Curry and Rolando McClain.

We can also flip that around and say what if Cox becomes a top 10 DT and gets 15 sacks this year. What then........

Why do you think we made a mistake with such a narrow criteria? That is silly. What if our DL become HoF members and we win 15 straight Super Bowls? Does it really matter if Cox goes to the HoF?

Bottom line: If Kuechly plays well and helps the team, it doesn't matter what Cox does somewhere else.

You're right bro, You're so right. Positional value has no bearing on draft selections. Where'd I get that delusion.

That may be, but "show me another team that took a player like him in the first round of this draft" is a terrible way to prove that point. There are a lot of factors on why teams pick who they pick. There was no other LB in the draft anywhere near Keuchly's talent and polish, and other teams have other needs.

Now you're overrating the value of coverage LBs.

You asked why Kuechly was the only non-pass rush specialist (fwiw I don't know if Donta Hightower is who I would consider a passrush specialist either, tho he can rush the passer) taken in the first round. That is pretty simple: He was the only linebacker of his caliber to choose.

I don't care about having all-pro LBs if my DL is right on par with the worst in the league.

How good do you expect our now three first round linebackers to be with a garbage DL.

The team that did select Hightower and also needed major defensive help selected a pass rusher first.

The Pats, as usual, had their poo together.
