Where Steve Smith Will Land In Top 100?

Probably the fifth best WR after Megatron, Fitz, Andre Johnson and Welker so probably 50-70, I'd guess.

Wes Welker has never and will never be able to hold Smitty's jock.. everyone else gets a pass due to Smitty's age,

Fair or unfair....it is a production league. Smith is better but it is hard not to give Welker his respect. Welkers numbers are crazy. Welker is the NFL slot WR.

Wes Welker took 3 years to post 29 catches for 434 yards and 0 TD's in Miami until one of the best QB's in the game made him look legit against primarily linebackers and safeties while lining up in the slot..

Smitty is 1000X the receiver Wes Welker could ever conceive.. especially if Smitty was granted the "NFL slot WR" excuse...

Not an excuse.....

Last 5 years.

Welker 554 receptions

Smith 355 receptions

Welker 6105 yards

Smith 5907 yards

Wellker 31 TDs

Smith 29 TDs

Production league. Gotta give Welker his props. Different kind of receiver. Not as talented as Smitty.....doesn't mean he can't be great in his own way. Welker is a chain mover....Smitty is a playmaker.

my point is simply if Smitty played Welker's role, we could talk stats.. until then, Smitty has been the receiver under a franchise that doesn't compare to Welker..

yes, we can play a black/white comparison with "production only", but that isn't truly accurate and I can't take that person making said comparison seriously...

Simple and plain, Welker can't do what Smitty has done for this franchise....

I agree, Welker could not do what is asked of Smitty.

He doesn't have to be able to be a Steve Smith though.....to be a great WR.

I'm not debating against you in that aspect... No doubt in my mind Steve Smith would have much better #'s the last 5 years than jokingly comparing Welker to Smitty.. I'm simply saying Welker's skill set does not compare to Steve Smith...
