Cmilner2's Final "situational" Mock Draft

I'll include the pick that I think will happen and some other possible picks so we might know what we are looking at with the ninth pick.

1st pick - Colts - Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

-was told last week he is pick

2nd pick - Redskins - Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

-the first two picks will be in within the first 5 or 10 minutes of the draft

3rd pick - Vikings - Matt Kalil, OT, USC

-if they stay at 3, Kalil is the pick. WR in the first is out of the question with Jerome Simpson signing. Minnesota could trade down with Tampa Bay so TB can get Richardson. Minny would select Claiborne at 5 if he gets past Cleveland who's pick is reportedly down to he and Richardson. A trade down for Cleveland with a team like the Bills is possible if Buffalo wants Kalil ahead of Minny.

4th pick - Browns - Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

-as noted above, the Browns pick is reportedly down to Claiborne and Richardson. Trent is bpa of the two and fills a much bigger need. He will be the pick unless TB trades up to #3 in which case, Cleveland goes with Claiborne, Blackmon, Tannehill or trades down with team like the Bills(who select Kalil).

5th pick - Buccaneers - Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU

-TB could trade up to #3 to get Richardson but if they do not, Claiborne, Kalil and Kuechly will be considered here. LB is TB's biggest need outside of RB but 5 is too high for Kuechly imo. Kalil would give TB one of, if not the best OL's in the NFL(Joseph, Penn, Kalil, Nicks).

6th Pick - Rams - Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State

-if the draft falls this way, the Rams pick will be either Fletcher Cox or Justin Blackmon with the shocker pick being Dontari Poe. DT is arguably the Rams biggest need but getting a #1 WR for Bradford will be key to his success. If Kalil is to fall to 6, he will most likely be the pick over Blackmon.

7th pick - Jaguars - Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina

-Jax came out and said that having a better corner would allow them to blitz more so if Gilmore or Claiborne is there, one of them will most likely be the pick. the Jaguars have been linked to Cox lately and he could also be the pick. If Blackmon were to fall, he would most likely be the pick. Ingram and Chandler Jones are other options as both fill a need and are high character guys which Gene Smith loves.

8th pick - Dolphins - Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M

-most think that Tannehill is a lock to be a Dolphins if he is there at 8, I disagree. I'll list him as the pick but other options include Justin Blackmon, Fletcher Cox, Melvin Ingram and Chandler Jones. Jones has gained steam late and this could be as high as he could go. Miami is another team that I think could trade down if the guy they really want(Blackmon) isnt there. teams that could move up include Philadelphia and Dalls. Both could target one of two guys(Cox or Barron).

9th pick - Panthers - Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State

-If either Gilmore, Claiborne, Blackmon or Cox is available at 9, I dont see Carolina trading this pick unless they get an outrageous offer. recent rumors include if Blackmon is there for Carolina, he will be the pick but Cox fills the biggest need for Carolina outside of CB.

10th pick - Bills - Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa

- as noted above, the Bills could move up to 4th overall if the Vikings pass up on Kalil for Claiborne in order to select Matt Kalil. after losing Demetress Bell, OT is Buffalo's biggest need outside of corner and receiver. If the Bills dont trade up, either Riley Reiff, Stephon Gilmore, Cordy Glenn, Michael Floyd or even Ryan Tannehill would be in play for them.

so there is the top ten...I'd list the entire 1st round, but that would be a lot of work lol. Just for fun, here is my final Panthers mock draft...

1st Round - Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi State

-fills biggest need and is bpa at nine. could become a Kevin Williams type of presence for us.

2nd Round - Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama

-Peter King noted earlier this morning that the Panthers are one of about 5 teams that could take a chance on Jenkins. if available in the 2nd round, he is without a doubt the bpa and imo, worth the risk.

4th Round - Demario Davis, WLB, Arkansas State

-I think Demario Davis could be a 2nd round pick which would surprise most but if he is there in the 4th, you cannot pass up on him. Has instincts that are comparable to Patrick Willis and is a fast, tackling machine.

5th Round - WR(Ryan Broyles, Jarius Wright, Devon Wylie, Tim Benford, LaVon Brazzil)

6th Round - DE(Tim Fugger, Ernest Owusu, Frank Alexander)

6th Round - best Punter available(Anger/Butler/Stahovic/Coale)

7th Round - OL depth(Steven Baker, Levy Adcock, Gino Gradkowski, Rokevious Watkins)

If Blackmon or Claiborne is there I can see us pulling the trigger. But Cox would be a great opportunity to trade down and still get a great linemen further down. DT is not our biggest need at this point nor would he be BPA unless Kail, Blackmon or Claiborne are gone.
