Panthers Trade Predictions.

You are looking at it the wrong way. If you like someone at @25 and can trade you #40 and next year 1st then the only way it really hurts you is if you suck again. If you feel like your team will be good enough to be picking in the 20's again next year you are really just forfeiting a second round pick forf a first round pick.

You are essentially just making next year's first round pick, this year.

Where it becomes a problem is if you make that move and then suck again and have another top 10 pick. Then you lost a lot more value. But if we make the playoffs next season we only forfeited a second round pick for a 1st round pick which is a great value IMO.

Yeah, again. I don't want to lose that second rounder. At the end of the day, you are trading 2 picks for one player.

Don't want to lose those. Every pick, especially in the first two rounds, is a possible elite player. More opportunities with more picks.

Post your Panther's trade predictions/hopes. And why you think it would be a good idea to both teams.

My idea:

Since Mark Barron has become the hottest name this week, and his stock seems to be at an all time high. The Cowboy's have no hidden their interest in Alabama safety Mark Barron. He is now being mocked to Buffalo at #10.

I am now thinking the Cowboys could almost ensure getting Barron by trading with us.

Simple as the Cowboys sending #14 overall and #45 to us for #9.

They get their boy, and we stock up on picks, possibly still allowing us to draft, Coples, Gilmore, Brockers, Kuecs.

Thoughts?

I want that proposal because we could get Decastro at 15 and Jenkins and Brown in the 2nd.

Yeah I get it. it isn't a scenario I am in love with either, I just think it is a possibility based on some of the FO activity this draft.

CB: Morris Claiborne, Stephon Gilmore, Dre Kirkpatrick, Janoris Jenkins

DT: Fletcher Cox, Michael Brockers, Dontari Poe, Jerel Worthy, Devon Still

DE: Quinton Coples, Melvin Ingram, Chandler Jones, Whitney Mercilus, Courtney Upshaw

LB: Zach Brown, Lavonte David, Shea McClain

There's a good chance we land two of those, even if we trade down, right? So fug yeah let's trade.

I really don't see the Panther's trading up with future picks anymore.

One reason, we are in the process of building for long term sucess. Also, I think the public backlash would be severe.

Its possible, but I really don't see it happening.

There is no public backlash for Hurney to fear....if he walks away with 3 guys drafted in the top 2 rounds he has no worries.

If you don't hit FA and only want to draft talent....you have to be willing to gamble and acquire as much talent in the draft as possible. There is a reason Hurney trades so much in the draft

eh, I saw the trading up as more of acquiring pieces to make one more superbowl run before blowing the team up and ending the Fox era.

Much more likely to trade down and acquire more picks, than trading away future picks.

Just my opinion. I don't think we should use Fox/Hurney drafting as a predictor to Rivera/Hurney drafting.

The Panthers should trade Jonathon Stewart for Osi Umenyiora. I think it is a good trade for both teams, even straight up.

Umenyiora would cost $4.6M this year is no restructure/ resign versus $2.6M for Stewart.

I think the salary differential alone would justify a straight up trade. No guarantees beyond this year, but who cares? Certainly there is a high probability the Panthers can't afford to resign Stewart given what they paid Deangelo, who by the way took to Twitter yesterday to lobby Chud for more carries for his birthday wish.

Even for a one-year trade, this is a good trade, and could be a lot more. Stewart could very well sign with the NYG next year as a FA anyway. Osi may be a pain, but he is going to play hard this year for a contract.

Then, who knows? If the Panthers are that interested they could franchise him or try to resign. I know they would have a lot tied up in their DE's in that scenario, but it wouldn't be ridiculous for the caliber of a CJ/ Osi combo. Sure will be a lot more affordable than in a few years when Newton will be up for a new contract.

Trade for Osi, draft Fletcher Cox and Janoris Jenkins in the first 2 rounds, and this is could be a top defensive team.

ALSO, for any interested PSL holders, I got a sweet deal from the Panthers ticket office in relocating my PSL's to a better section & lower row. I've had mine for six years and never really looked into it before now, but quite a few people have defaulted on their PSL's over the past couple of years due to poor economy/ poor performing team, so there are some good upgrades available.

I moved from Section 545 Row 30 to Section 540 Row 19 and it didn't cost me anything other than the slight difference in ticket price ($10). Basically move down 11 rows (which is huge in the upper deck) and moved from the 15 yard line to the 40. Still home team, shady side of the stadium. Worth looking into IMO for PSL holders

^^^ I don't think this is a terrible idea.

But I think the one major reservation is schemes.

We KNOW J. stew can dominate in our Offense. We don't know if Osi would work as well in our scheme.

And if this would be one year rentals, this could be an issue.

I still would not count on it.

I think the Giants would consider Osi for one year to be more valuable than J-stew for one year.

And I do really like Greg Hardy as the 3rd DE. Some talent level as an Al Wallace. Plus, you have Thomas Keiser and Antwan Applewhite as platoon or 3rd down options b/c Hardy, CJ, and potentially Osi could move inside. Keiser and Applewhite also both play ST's.

Keeping 9 D-Linemen of CJ, Osi, Hardy, Keiser, Applewhite, Fetcher Cox, McClain, Ron Edwards, & Fua would be a lot better than what the Panthers have fielded in some time.

I also really like the way Frank Shirley played down the stretch if they decided to keep a 10th D-Lineman

DE typically are worth more than a RB, but Osi would cost $2M more than Stewart. Both are still a good value in regards in salary vs position they play.

The Giants aren't going to keep Osi past this year, and we aren't going to keep Stewart. Neither side really has much leverage in a trade, especially if neither would be willing to resign the player this year.

2. Fletcher Cox

3. Matt Kalil (Not Likely)

4. Morris Claibourne (Not Likely)

5. Justin Blackmon (Not Likely)

6. Trade Down
