First And Final Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

Alright, here is my first and final mock draft.

Round 1, Pick 9: Fletcher Cox- Defensive Tackle, Mississippi State

Write Up: I'm not buying all the talk that a team is going to trade up for Cox, to me it's just smokescreens and conversation topics. Cox falls to the Panthers and sure's up the Panthers defensive tackle position with Ron Edwards and Fletcher Cox as the starters and Terrell McClain and Sione Fua coming of the bench as rotational players.

Round 2, Pick 40: Janoris Jenkins, Cornerback, North Alabama

Write Up: Talent and need trumps character in this case. At least half of the NFL general managers have said that Jenkins is the best corner in the draft but his personal life is a mess which is why he has fallen so much. The Panthers desperately need a corner and Jenkins fits the mold perfectly. The Panthers locker room has enough guys in it that are strong willed and that they won't let Jenkins throw away his talent on drugs, sex, and money. Jenkins becomes a day one starter opposite of Chris Gamble with Brandon Hogan seeing the field quite a bit as a rotational guy. Captain Munnerlyn and Darius Butler become are nickel cornerbacks.

Round 4, Pick 104: Keenan Robinson, Outside Linebacker, Texas

Write Up: Keenan Robinson could most likely start at OLB right away, but the Panthers will use him as depth until needed otherwise. The Panthers need depth at linebacker as Thomas Davis is yet again coming off another torn ACL. Robinson provides great depth and definitely has starter material. He will eventually be the successor to Thomas Davis whether it be through injury or retirement.

Round 5, Pick 143: Joe Adams, Punt Returner/Kick Returner/Wide Receiver, Arkansas

Write Up: The Armanti Edwards experience has ended and in comes Joe Adams. Joe Adams can actually play wide receiver and return punts and kicks so there is no teaching required for him. He instantly becomes a threat on special teams and also has the ability to push Gettis, LaFell, and Pilares for playing time.

Round 6, Pick 180: Frank Alexander, Defensive End, Oklahoma

Write Up: Frank Alexander would be a third round pick if it wasn't for his severe injury concerns. However, in the sixth round if you have a chance to take a player that has starter material you do so. I know that Alexander can push Hardy for a starting spot and he will provide great depth at the defensive end position.

Round 6, Pick 207: Nate Potter, Guard/Tackle, Boise State

Write Up: You can get a good offensive lineman in the draft in about any round and since the Panthers can get a player who can play both guard and tackle they bite on the chance to draft Potter. Potter adds depth to the offensive line and can become a decent starter or a great back-up, which ever is needed.

Round 7, Pick 216: Drew Butler, Punter, Georgia

Write Up: Anytime you can add a starter in round seven, you jump on that; even if it is a punter. Since the Panthers don't have a punter on the roster, now would be a good time to change that. Butler obviously becomes the Panthers new starting punter for years to come.

What do you guys think?

I've seen three different one's that have in the fifth now because of his size and apparently questionable character. Whatever that means. I could also flip Irvin and Adams because Joe has fallen a little bit too.

Size? He has great size and speed for a OLB. Not to mention top flight pass rushing abilities!

Dude is atleast a 2nd rounder and a absolute steal in the 3rd.

The only thing about Irving is the learning curve from playing DE in college to OLB in the pros.
