I Just Watched 6 Games Worth Of Quinton Coples Snaps...

Ok so I picked a video that was easy to find on youtube with plays featuring Coples against Miami. If you'll notice, on long developing pass plays Coples is usually doubled teamed, or if he's not, he manages to draw a holding call, get a sack, or pressure the QB.

Second City Panther tell me how you came to the conclusion that Coples is fuging terrible from this video? It was listed as a video you watched.

He won't be double teamed in the NFL like that. Not with the quality of OL in this league. One NFL lineman will be able to handle him in most cases.

"Terrible" may have been over the top. I admit that. But I watch this and I just don't see the type of impact player we need at 9th overall. You see flashes every now and then, but the offense always seems to manage to move the ball regardless of what Coples does. That's not an impact player.

An impact player disrupts the offense even when they're game-planned for. Coples obviously isn't capable of doing that. I know a lot of folks here see Peppers in him, but he's not. Not even close. Not even remotely close.

I see him get a few good pressures against Miami. But then he'll get completely pushed out of the play. Then he'll get stood up at the line. Then he'll jump into a pile after the runner has been taken down 8 yards down field and get up pumping his fist like he did something. Which is probably the most emotion he shows on a yearly basis.

Your definition of game changing must be different than mine. A sack, hurry, or tackle isn't a game changing play unless it's in a clutch situation. On a consistent basis Coples is average at best and solidly below average at least part of the time. Yes, from time to time he'll flash brilliance, but that's not enough. Almost every draft prospect will do that from time to time. The top prospects are the guys who do it consistently.

But whatever; I'm done with this back and forth. If we draft him I'll root for him, but I won't hold my breath for him to make any Pro Bowls.

Saying you don't think he's a worthy top 10 pick, or that he's not as talented as Peppers is no a big deal. Saying he's terrible, which I'm glad you have retracted that statement, is what bothered me.

If Coples has a weakness, it appears to me to be maintaining proper leverage due to his height. Another thing is that he's not as fast as I would hope as far as his pass rush is concerned. If he was more consistant with his leverage, and had a little more speed in his pass rush, then we wouldn't have a shot at drafting him.

Usually DE's get more sacks than DT's and LOL at comparing South Carolina, Kentucky and Wake to Duke and James Madison.

Uhh Coples had 11 sacks as a DT in 2010 so you should probably stick to topics you know about like pedophilia and being a Gamecock homer even though no one knows how you're associated with SC in any way.

in 2006 i wanted DeAngelo

in 2007 I wanted Beason

in 2008 I wanted a tackle (I admit I didn't know exactly which one it would be between Clady, Williams and Otah)

in 2011 I wanted Cam

and now in 2012 I want Quinton Coples or Fletcher Cox

historically hurney's been in line with my picks

I don't give a F how many sacks he had and i'm not the only one who thinks he sucks balls so you really need to back the hell off me.
