Hunter Cantwell

After watching that video I'd assume nobody from that offensive line was drafted. If any of them were I feel sorry for their new qb. OUCH

I'm pretty sure 1st rounder Eric Wood was playing center, it was his sophmore year I believe.

Yeah, when the defense is back in the pocket as quickly as the QB is, it's on the line. Kinda felt sorry for him...

Don't know if this has been posted, but I think he's taking someone's roster spot, especially with the offensive talent we'll have around him. From his nfl.com combine profile:

Analysis

Positives: Prototypical drop-back quarterback in terms of size and arm strength. Good height, weight and body structure. Shows the ability to make all of the NFL throws, including the deep out from the opposite hash. Can lead the receiver and take advantage of his ability to create yardage after the catch. Can extend the play with his feet and will take what the defenses gives him as a scrambler after he has exhausted his passing options. Good intangibles. Demonstrated enough ability to have transferred elsewhere and played earlier in his career rather than backing up Brohm, but stayed true to the program. Courageous in the pocket. Willing to take a hit to complete the pass. Made drastic changes to his delivery during the week of practice at the East-West Shrine Game, speeding up his motion and impressing scouts with his dedication.

Negatives: Only 16 games as a starter. Trusts his arm and too often is willing to take chances by throwing into coverage. Needs to learn to throw with better touch. Throws with too much velocity at times, making catches unnecessarily difficult for his receivers. Can avoid the rush by stepping up into the pocket, but isn't going to run away from anyone.

I'm actually excited about this guy (Cadogan, Beavers, and Lee too)...

How long has it been since we've had a prototypical 6-5 230 quarterback here in Carolina? Yes, he was an UDFA but he also was at one point considered to be one of the best prospects in the nation and could have hand picked a place to transfer. Instead, he stayed loyal to the Louisville program.

He had a few bad games last year, most notably against Kentucky where he threw 3 picks and West Virginia where he did the same, but the kid has everything you look for in a quarterback. He's smart, he has as big of an arm as any quarterback available this year, and he's very raw. In other words, if you're looking for a guy that you can mold into your very own starter then this would be the one.

He had problems in college with his release and taking too long to get the ball out, but he has shown the desire to work with his coaches and get that out of his system.

Think about it this way, if Cantwell had a season ending injury and went straight into the combine he probably would have been drafted in the first three rounds. Everything measurable about this guy stands up, but his inexperience at the position caused him to have too much faith in his arm and resulted in a lot of picks.

Right now he is the strongest arm on our football team by a country mile. He'll have to prove that he can learn the position and learn coverages, but in terms of quarterbacking skills they're all right there ready to be harvested. He'll either prove himself unwilling or incapable of being receptive to coaching advice, or his coaches will have failed him. Everything else is there.

He might take someone's spot.

With a stellar preseason, anything is possible. However, I would think it to be a safer bet that Cantwell ends up on the practice squad as opposed to us cutting Moore and him surely picking up somewhere. I think the QB's are set and any undrafted guy we picked up this year is our practice squad QB.

When I say Cantwell is raw, I mean like.... put him on the grill and flip him once and serve kind of raw. He won't be ready to play a meaningful down for at least three years from now if ever.
