Gannt Selects With #9 Pick...

I am not talking about first rounders, or last season.

I am talking about for the past 8 or 9 years the only dominate DT that we have had was Jenkins. We have needed help there for years, and we all but ignored it.

Edwards, Fua, and McClain were needed, but please don't tell me you think they are top tier players.

Not yet but the number of DT's that come into the leauge and dominate their position year 1 is pretty low. I mean I can think of one in the past five years.

If you want a quality longtime winning team, You build up the trenches. Offense or Defense, it doesnt matter. Remember our Super Bowl run .. we had a good O-line and D-line

Agreed.

We have needed interior DL for a long time now. Seriously, nothing since Jenkins.

Gannt has had a thing for Decastro for a while, although he acknowledges the team would be better trading back. That said, if they took DeCastro at nine, I wouldn't hate it. its not a sexy pick, but DeCastro is an elite talent at guard, yes its guard so its not the same as QB, CB, DE or some other positions. But he is a guy who could lineup at guard and perform at pro-bowl level for the next decade. And remember we dumped Wharton. So I think DeCastro is a real possibility, although more likely if you trade back a few spots. But DeCastro could be gone quick, some mocks have him going in the early teens.
