Rivera And Hurney Meetings With Coples Again

When you play "to not get hurt" I will question you.

When you don't produce on the field at all, I will question you.

When you are labeled as a boom or bust player, I will question you.

Please stop being a Carolina homer.

all players play not to get hurt to a certain extent.. in his situation it was the right thing to do

all players have had productive and non-productive games.. in his situation rational people understand why

..neither have anything to do with his play before all the turmoil with the coaching staff

..neither have anything to do with what his play will be in the NFL

Quit being such an ABC crybaby. If his "desire", "motor", or "motivation" are where your apprehension is based, you have nothing to worry about. Hurney and Rivera can spot that garbage a mile away and no team that gets 100% participation during voluntary workouts will ever let slackers slide, let alone slackers that are also rookies.

The whining on this issue is telling. You (collective) are either an ABC asshole looking for an excuse or you are a butthurt UNC fan who felt losing games last season was clearly and solely the fault of Coples not dominating every game.

If you want to bring up that he is almost exactly between two positions when you consider his skill set and size or that if he plays DE he may stunt the growth of Hardy or even Applewhite, two players most feel have a decent future with us, fine. Those are legit concerns I have. Aside from that you guys are just parrots of parrots and make no sense at all.

I hear ya. I just don't trust any player that has a motivation issue. How motivated is he going to be when he is rich?

Since his big contract will be his second one, I would hope pretty motivated. Even at 9 the money goes down quite a bit, He will make around 2 million which is a ton for me but not much to them.

What the fug is an ABC crybaby? Man, calm down.

As for the bold....thank you, my fears are at ease. You made me feel so much better.

Who said that Hurney and Rivera are "sold" about his dedication. Maybe there are doubts about his desire, and that's why they met with him again.

quite possible. that is why I am not worried and nobody else should be. I have enough faith that they are able to see bullsh-t. I do not think there is any bullsh-t to worry about. Some do. Fine. My argument is that if there is, it won't sneak by Rivera.

So when people keep saying they don't like Coples because of his motivation and what will happen if he is rich I find it ludicrous. You have to admit that you don't trust Hurney or Riv with one of the easiest spots in the biz if you are generally worried that Coples is too "under-motivated" to be our pick at number 9.

That simply is not ever going to be the reason he won't work out.

ETA:

first step.. legit concern

The reason I don't want Coples isn't a motor issues (I'm sure that'll be addressed) and it isn't an ability issue (he definitely has the ability). The reason I don't want Coples is because of the impact that he'll have immediately. Rivera said that he wanted a guy who was going to come in, make an immediate impact, and help the team as soon as he steps on the field.

For the first year, I believe it'll be Coples starting, and Hardy coming in certain situations. Is that an immediate impact? Well, kinda, yeah. But, when we select at #9, there should be other players on the board that are even more impactful players.

There should be Gilmore, who would not only immediately upgrade the #2 CB position, but allow Darius Butler to slide inside to the nickle, which would increase the play at that position, and it would allow Captain Munnerlyn to become a Special Teams monster, which would really help him out there, and make our Special Teams even better. That's why I really am starting to want Gilmore, because he allows for such an upgrade across the board.

Cox could be there, which would instantly generate more pass-rush on the inside, which would help out Hardy on the outside. Last season, our DTs didn't get any sort of push in the middle, and Cox could definitely upgrade that. So, if we're looking for an upgrade in pass rushing, we shouldn't go with DE, we should go with someone who can pass rush, and help others pass rush. But, the only problem with Cox, it's looking like the Rams are going to take him at #6.
