Mike Mayock Releases His Top 100 Prospects List

Funny but the draft analysis says he is very good at engaging blockers and using his strong hands and speed to work around them in traffic. Linebackers don't try to hold the point of attack against a guy who is 60 lbs heavier. They work around the blocker and use their speed against the slower blocker. He is excellent at doing that.

But I don't worry about the defensive line like you do. I would like to draft a d linemen at some point but think we need some other positions as well.

lol at least 14 of those are gang tackles and assists including kuechly, and god knows how many past the line of scrimmage

i wonder who got full credit for those tackles, surely not the guy that ends up with 191 at the end of the season

Seriously??? A guy runs 20 yards to drag down a receiver or makes a play at the sidelines chasing a running back and you have a complaint??? If we had a linebacker last year who had half his talent we could have won several more games. It is almost inconceivable how biased and negative you and some others are. In the end that kind of ridiculous criticism just undercuts your credibility completely. Honestly it is the same thing over and over. A guy like Mayock rates him the sixth best player in the draft and by far the best linebacker and people like you criticize him relentlessly. Feel free to keep it up but if you think you are winning anything it is in your mind. You are so far out in left field as to be irrelevant.

mayock's rankings aren't the be-all-end-all of big boards. no one's is. every team's big board is different

So when they agree with your opinion they are great but when they don't we should criticize them. I still think i will take his word over yours. Don't take it personally though......

incidentally if you took mayock's input over mine last year we wouldn't have drafted cam newton and QB would still be a dumpster fire

Even he screws up sometimes but it doesn't mean he screws up all the time or that because he misses on some players that we should disregard him. I was the one right about Newton and I am right about Kuechly. Only this time he agrees with me. Now I have consensus....

That was sarcasm in case you have lost perspective........

i was right, as always

That's all I needed to read to realize we're dealing with a fuging idiot.

We're all wrong from time to time.

I loved the Jimmy Clausen and Dwayne Jarrett picks. I hated the Jon Beason pick at the time - I wanted his teammate Greg Olsen. Funny how things work out sometimes.

I know a lot of you guys don't want nothing to do with Devon Still, yet if we don't select a DT in the first round, Still could still be availble in the second. Of course, I have a suggestion that it would be good to trade our second rounder, and try to pick up a third if we can.

If we pass on a DT in the 1st and Still is available in the 2nd I would LOVE to have him. I think he's better than Cox overall, he just has those injury concerns.

    • I complete disagree. Who is available is extremely relevant. If you have a couple of players you would be happy with and you can still get them if you trade back, you should do that in a heartbeat. Being afraid that people will lowball you next year is an odd stance. Then you just say no next year, problem solved. In this particular draft you can get a very good player at 46. But to each their own.
    • I don't think so.  Watson really screwed them up.  I see something happening, but do not know what.  Cousins could be had in a trade--but they liked Flacco when he played there.  If it were me, I would not spend the #2 pick on Sanders.  I would go after a tier 2 qb because I think Will Howard is going to start in the NFL soon, and I think Ewers was rated very high at the beginning of the year--he knows adversity and he beat out a Manning while taking Texas to 2 playoff appearances.  I am not good at picking QBs, but I think Howard's run pass option and his accuracy is going to help someone.  Stay in Ohio and play for the Browns behind Flacco--
    • After Cam at #1, there are three or four elite players and there could be a trade--If I am the Giants and I am needed a winning season badly and I have several needs, I might trade out and pick up mid first and an extra second rounder, including a QB--while nobody is going to move up to #3 for Sanders, they might for Carter or Hunter.  If the Giants then move back, Sanders could still be in play.  That could be the trade in the top 3.  New England wants Campbell and I get that; Jacksonville at #5 could move back if someone wants Graham or Jeanty.  But barring some trade, the top 4 are probably locked in. So it could be 2 hours into the draft before we get any surprises. Nice list, by the way--you nailed it.
