Mike Mayock Releases His Top 100 Prospects List

What a lame board. I could careless about Mayock's opinion anyways, didn't he have Newton at like #22?

Mike Mayock is a guy a lot of NFL writers have respect for. He does a lot of homework, and he really knows his prospects. However, like Panthro and I have already said, he judges guys with question concerns (proven or alleged) harshly. He always has. It wasn't that he was judging Cam's playing ability, he was worried about his work ethic, his character concerns, etc.

Cam proved him wrong on that aspect. It happens.

Honestly Mark Barron would be my next DB of choice after Claiborne. Certified playmaker, dont care if does play safety.

Well we dont have any good safeties.

I mean you pretty much can draft any spot on D. We aren't set at any spot. Wouldn't be bad if we traded down

I don't know how he has Chandler jones at 9 but coples is number one on his top 5 defensive ends and is his 50th ranked player.

Again, character concerns. Also, Jones is being seen as a hybrid DE/OLB.

He has Zach Brown at 100. 4th round pick for the Panthers?

I don't think he will be there. He will get over drafted.

If he is there I think he is a good fit for our defensive needs at LB. Unfortunately, I think he will end up being a situational LBer (medium to long down situations) and not an every down guy.

Just my opinion

Chandler Jones is one of those guys who has shot up the list big time based on potential.

He obviously comes from an exceptional gene pool as far athletics is concerned, but I think if he goes in the first round it's a reach. I would have ranked Ingram, Coples, Upshaw, Worthy, and maybe even Curry before him. Zach Brown at #100 is laughable as well.

Mayock is certainly a step above Kiper and McShay, but I can assure it's only fans who put any merit in to anything these guys say.

I think that Jones shot up the board because he's cut from the same mold as JPP.

Yeah I guess I can kinda see that. That doesn't mean he is the same player, though. JPP was also a member of one of the top dlines in the country for a couple years.

Definitely. I was just saying that's why I think he's gone up the Draft boards. Now, everyone is freaking out because of what the Giants did this past season, especially JPP.

    • I complete disagree. Who is available is extremely relevant. If you have a couple of players you would be happy with and you can still get them if you trade back, you should do that in a heartbeat. Being afraid that people will lowball you next year is an odd stance. Then you just say no next year, problem solved. In this particular draft you can get a very good player at 46. But to each their own.
    • I don't think so.  Watson really screwed them up.  I see something happening, but do not know what.  Cousins could be had in a trade--but they liked Flacco when he played there.  If it were me, I would not spend the #2 pick on Sanders.  I would go after a tier 2 qb because I think Will Howard is going to start in the NFL soon, and I think Ewers was rated very high at the beginning of the year--he knows adversity and he beat out a Manning while taking Texas to 2 playoff appearances.  I am not good at picking QBs, but I think Howard's run pass option and his accuracy is going to help someone.  Stay in Ohio and play for the Browns behind Flacco--
    • After Cam at #1, there are three or four elite players and there could be a trade--If I am the Giants and I am needed a winning season badly and I have several needs, I might trade out and pick up mid first and an extra second rounder, including a QB--while nobody is going to move up to #3 for Sanders, they might for Carter or Hunter.  If the Giants then move back, Sanders could still be in play.  That could be the trade in the top 3.  New England wants Campbell and I get that; Jacksonville at #5 could move back if someone wants Graham or Jeanty.  But barring some trade, the top 4 are probably locked in. So it could be 2 hours into the draft before we get any surprises. Nice list, by the way--you nailed it.
