Yasinkas Has Us Taking Kuechly

So what is your solution

Just about everyone on this forum has a mock draft with us taking a LB to protect aginast Beason or TD going down. Either draft a LB(s), or buy them in FA. Drafting Luke is not out of the question if a trade down is involved, but he's not an ideal fit. Still he could come in and play MLB if Beason goes down, we just wouldn't be able to blitz as much imo.

Based on what? Beason is a better blitzer??? He had one sack in his college career which is less than Kuechly had. If Beason can learn it then Kuechly can as well. Blitzing is about scheme not talent.

And I am fine addressing LB in the 2nd with a Lavonte David type player. Would be more of a true Davis replacement .....

I just don't like DTs at 9. Any other position of need I think is better

I don't think there is a DT in this draft worthy of a top ten pick. I have 2 mock drafts, one we select Coples, the other Reiff.

People act like Kuechly is the only player that can solve our LB problem. The draft does continue on Friday and Saturday. We aren't going to fix all our problems with just one pick.

Just like people act as if all our problems can be solved by drafting Cox or Claiborne. Everyone want their pick in the first round even though as you say it is important to hit on most or all of your draft picks.

In a league where RBs/TE production has been the biggest factor in the jump in passing yards......rushing attacks are now short passing attacks and TEs are key cogs to passing offenses. Luke likely could be our best coverage LB

hate to break it to you but an elite QB's biggest enemy (or any QB, for that matter) is pressure, pressure, pressure

fixing the DL is the first step to improving our ability to pressure the QB

because they both play more critical positions

we've had top ten defenses with chris draft and na'il diggs playing at linebacker. then again I remember our front four also being better and having 3 good CBs (Marshall could hold his own as a nickel)

I guess changing schemes and bringing in a new DC had nothing to do with it. It was that rookie DE that made all the difference. Seriously????????

And because you aren't worried suggests you are in denial. Don't worry you are not alone.

because I'm not worried about having a better linebacker core, i want a better defense and we're better off investing our best resource in defensive line to improve the defense overall.

they changed schemes, but if you were a texans fan, given your irrationally high standards when it comes to linebacker and Demeco Ryans' injury, you would've wanted them to go there with their first pick.

When a QB only gets sacked 24 times a season it is because they get the ball out before the pressure gets there. The only solution is keeping it in front of you and limiting YAC. That comes from the back 7 not the front four. Guys like Brees eat you up with dinks and dunks if your secondary and linebackers suck. Look what they did to us last year. Cox's five sacks won't change that as much as better linebacker play and a solid secondary.
