Oh wait I found it...he was in a 7 way tie for 87th place in the NCAA.

Holy poo he lives in the opponents backfield

lol

Cool stat. Where did Pat Willis, the best LB in the game, rank his last year in college?

Only way we draft him is if TD is done. If that's the case then sure...try to trade down and take him. But if you are ginna keep TD then you have to pass on Keuchly

he is done. He may play a preseason game, he may play a regular season game.....he ain't coming back from 3 ACL tears. Just a matter of when he goes down

Actually they don't. A corner isn't involved on 1/2 of all plays. DTs and DEs can be easily neutralized. A MLB is the general of the defense and is involved in the passing and running game on every play. The aren't valued as much because of what it costs to get one in free agency. Great DTs and DEs are rarer because the bust rate is much higher than linebacker. Still how many probowl linebackers not coming off injuries like Ryans come up every year in free agency?? Only old ones or ones with issues do.

What kind of question is that? How many Probowl whatever postions ever go into free agency. Yup your fifth WR is more likely to get to free agency than your top LBer. When NFL teams actually start drafting that way to reflect your theory, then yes I will believe it. But only guys who are projected to be elite LBers are drafted in the first. There are normally about ten D-lineman drafted before two LBers are drafted. A little exaggeration of course but it would be really close to holding up if you dont count rush lbers.

Trading down is only a strategy if you don't care who you get and have tons of guys who will work. If you want one particular player you get him where you pick.

In a league that is now more about passing the ball and stopping the pass (QB, DE/L and CB's) my fellow Panther fans want us to take a LBer. After we as a team have invested roughly 100gazillion dollars in the position already.

Im deleting this forum.

I'll fuging do it.

Teams draft based on what it will cost to pick up a player in free agency at the same position. Otherwise every team would pick every great player that came out in free agency and trade all their draft picks away to teams for proven commodities. They don't of course because you can't afford to buy everyone you need. So you use your draft picks on positions that you need so you can spend much less particularly with a rookie cap.

Teams draft more DTs and DEs because they bust more frequently. 2/3rds of DTs bust in the first round. Only 1/3 of linebackers in the first round bust. So you would need twice as many DTs to make up for those that bust. If we draft Cox this year why will that be??? Because we don't think McClain is a great player and need someone better.

The fact that we wasted so much money on davis and may have overpaid our middle linebacker now that he tore his achilles has nothing to do with what we should do now. If we wasted money that happened in the past. What we do now is totally separate.

BTW since we invested 76 million on Johnson I guess we shouldn't draft Coples right??

He wasn't drafted to a team with an abundance of good LBs and pass rush as their main need.

What team has an abundance of good LBs? Us?

LB play was pathetic last year.

We have Beason coming back at an unknown level. Anderson is JAG....elevated to good bc he wears a Panther uniform. That is what we are working with....

In a league where RBs/TE production has been the biggest factor in the jump in passing yards......rushing attacks are now short passing attacks and TEs are key cogs to passing offenses. Luke likely could be our best coverage LB
