I want Cox also but if hes gone we will have to reach unless you think Gilmore or Kirkpatrick isnt. I think we could take Luke and get a good corner in the 2nd. Either way this is going to be a fun draft and will be happy regardless of who we take.

Or a good DT on the 2nd.....

Are you trying to compare a once in a decade talent at DE to a caliber of DT most drafts have several of?

I'm not trying to compare the two because there is a big difference between a top 2 defensive end vs. a top 10 defensive end. Teams like the 49ers have showed that you can get success out of a rookie defensive end like Aldon Smith. I don't think there would be any negatives in selecting a defensive linemen to improve the pass rush which happens to be our biggest weakness.

Difference between pass rushing and blitzing. JJ43 needs LBs to blitz.

But Luke is a BPA pick on D. Anti Luke people are focused in need and specific fix. BPA is about not passing on talent bc you are worried about how to use it. Talent finds the field.

still once you go after the QB you are considered apart of the pass rush. either from the front 4 or blitzing LB.again there are better blitzing LBs who would be avaiable later in the draft, and im not buying him being that good in coverage that he wasnt asked to blitz at BC. poo I have seen CB blitz more than Luke.

I would argue that zac brown can cover just as well if not better than luke. He can be had for a second round pick and is a pass rush specialist. So why not get what we need the most out of a second rounder and grab a bigger need in the first like DT or CB?

That's debatable when it comes to coverage. Yes, Brown has the sheer speed to keep up, but coverage isn't just about speed. Kuechly is known for elite instincts and reactions, a trait that could be argued as equally important as speed. Although, Brown might be a better pass-rusher (which would be good for our scheme), from the film I've seen, he runs around blocks too much and would be a liability in the run-game. Even if Brown did have a slight edge on Kuechly in coverage ability, which is debatable, Kuechly's ability against the run far outweighs Brown's, making him the superior LB. That doesn't even include Brown's work ethic versus Kuechly's. If we go with Cox, I'd wouldn't be angry if we go Brown in the second, although I'd rather have David. But, Brown and Kuechly are definitely not on the same level IMO.

Kuechly has a chance to become the next Urlacher. I'll take a great player like that any day.

He's an oversized safety who converted to LB in the pro's and is arguably one of the most athletic ever at the position ?

I didn't know that.

But again there is a difference between your scheme needing someone to be a pass rusher vs asking them to blitz.

Are there better all round LBs later in the draft? JJ43 doesn't use one dimensional LBs and lots of schemes do

Urlacher ran a 4.54 and Kuechly isnt that far behind with a 4.58. kuechly is more athletic than people think. Watch some of the int returns he had in college, pretty impressive
