Your Personal Experience Meeting A Panther

Not Panthers, but here goes anyway...

When the Cardinals were still in St. Louis, I had a girlfriend whose mother went to Georgetown with Bill Bidwell (team owner). We went to a game at his invite, later went into the clubhouse where I met Larry Wilson (HOF safety) and other people associated with the team, then we went to a country club with the Bidwell's for dinner and drinks.

I remember that Bidwell was kind of a d!ck. In those days, I wasn't that big of a football fan and the Cardinals sucked, plus I was ready to dump my girlfriend so the whole experience was sort of underwhelming.

I met Kris Jenkins for the first time a couple of months ago at the fox and hound in Ballanytne. He was sitting at the bar and he had a seat open next to him so I grabbed it. Talked with the guy for about and hour or so about pretty much everything ranging from football to lawn care to things are kids are involved in. I left the conversation with the impression that he was a real down to earth guy that most folks on here would probably enjoy hanging out with

Did you talk about John Fox any? I don't think Jenkins was blameless in him leaving here but it sure seemed like he didn't like Fox's ways. Maybe he was just ahead of the curve, b/c it seemed a lot of players (DWill, Smitty) soured on Fox before the end as well.

I met Torry Holt (a few years before he retired) at a restaurant I worked at in Napa Valley. Chef brought him back to the kitchen to meet me because I freaked out when I heard he was in the dinning room. He was awesome we talked for like five minutes. I asked him if there was any chance he would come to carolina to finish his career. He said he would love to but not to talk to loud because his wife didn't love the idea.

Took a pic with a couple of TorCats a few years back after the game. The 2 girls didnt look like all the other fans leaving. They were cool enough to stop & take a pic... Looked for it but cant find it...

My current neighbor is a Top Cat. She loves doing yard work in some short ass shorts.

Alright, I have a few, used to play pick up ball at Siskey Y with Steve Smith when he first got drafted. Helped coach his son Peytons soccer team, years ago, I once caught an elbow in a pick up game from Smitty, damn near dislocated my jaw, muscles on top of muscles. Ive ran into Deangelo a few times at the movies in stonecrest. Ran into Peppers, Kemo and some other guy at the graduate on 51 before it got closed. The year that we signed Lonnie Harvey as an undrafted free agent, I became really good friends with him while he was staying in the holiday inn downtown, we went shopping out at concord mills, and we ran up a $500 tab at Mcbonies bar and grill, big fella could drink! Muggsy signed an autograph for me right after my brother passed, my brother was a huge muggsy fan, same goes for Jeff Gordon, a family friend that knew him told him about my brother and he sent out to our home, a autographed picture and a letter he wrote us concerning the loss of my little brother, classy guy, cause he really didn't have to do that at all! Was never a nascar fan, but definitely a Jeff Gordon fan after that.

I saw Beason one time at Nikkos. Dude is jaw-droppingly gigantic and ripped when you see him up close. Had a smokin blonde with him. I didn't say anything to him.

My kids got to meet all the Panthers in 2006, at a practice session. Got tons of autographs. Brett Basenez gave my son one of his QB gloves, and Drew Carter gave my daughter his NFL doo rag.

Went on the Panther's cruise in 2005. Got to meet and talk with Minter, Hoover, Smith, Rucker, Wallace and a few others. Got a chance to spend several days getting autographs, talking and interacting. A couple of them sang at a karaoke bar one night on the ship. It was a good time and everyone was having a lot of fun drinking and letting off steam. Some of the players had some high stakes games in the casino I hear, but I had spent mine on the cruise. They obviously went for free. Some of the best times were when things were informal. Took my wife, my son, and his fiance at the time (now his wife). He and I still talk about it sometimes. My daughter couldn't go because it interfered with school and she still lets me know about that too.....
