Gilmore Overlooked By Board

Read the Brockers vs Cox thread again, he goes through 3 games and says the difference between Brockers and Cox is huge. Cox is a much better prospect then Brockers because he's got a high upside but he's already polished and dominated the LOS a lot in college.

If you are talking about the one in the NFL draft forum, he says how Brockers gets double teamed much more often.... Brockers is said to have great upside, he has only started one full year as DT at LSU, and is still getting used to about 50 pounds he added on since freshman season. To say Cox blows Brockers out of the water is simply not true.

Here is another great read on the Bengals forum about Stephon Gilmore.

http://cincinnati.com/blogs/bengals/2012/04/23/draft-profile-stephon-gilmore/

Here is Mel Kiper saying his thoughts on Gilmore:

“Gilmore is a pure cornerback, very fundamentally and technically sound. He has the size, recovery speed, and leaping ability to do a good, solid job in coverage. He’s an intense competitor who will come up and aggressively support the run. Gilmore played like a first rounder with the pads on then tested like a first rounder to reinforce his grade.”

I simply do not see why this guy is not getting the respect he deserves. The guy is a stud, making 1st team SEC. Yes, you can find a bad game, a bad day, whatever. It happens to someone still learning the position. This guy is aggressive and versatile, that is something this team needs an infusion of.

if Gilmore goes top 10 its because he has been rated that good, not because he is just rising. these guys are on scouts radar for a long time.

Thank you..... Everyone seems to think he randomly appearred. He has been respected around the SEC, obviously, for a long time. Just because you hear of him now, does not make him a bull sh*t player.....

I've heard about him for since he entered the SEC but still don't think he's worth a top 10 pick. He is the 4th CB on my board. So I don't think that's the problem. Not saying he his bad just think there are better options at not only the CB position but other positions.

They guy was never considered a high first round pick, if even a first round pick at all until the past weeks.

So out of the blue and due to the fact that the draft media has to have something new to report on he has shot up the draft guru charts.

Yeah, no thanks. He could be decent player but he's not a worthy of a first round pick and non of these guys who shoot up just before the draft are.

He was projected in the first round before the college season started. Then he had some uneven moments that are not unlike Chris Gamble's in the Cover 2 scheme Fox ran.

In a great analysis of him scouts regard him as an elite cb who wins late. Niamdi is a cb who wins early and Revis Early and late. He should be in the mold of a Chris Gamble, Johnathan Joseph. If you can get that at 9 and get a guy who will probally not get suspended for drugs, Duis...then you pull the trigger bc he wont be there in the second.

There was a lot of uneven tape on Johnathan Joeseph and Gamble as well. Neither of which was considered a shut down guy either above average with great physical tools..a pass rush up the middle will help anyone so DT, CB..im good with it.

I like gilmore better than Brockers or Poe..fo sho...no one is elite at 9.

Gamble and Joseph were late first round picks.

Gilmore started as a 2nd round pick, and went down once the season started. Now he's back to first based on not playing. That's over analysis and silly.

Gilmore is arguabally better than a Josh Robinson or Boykin. If they determine that Gilmore is better than Kirpatrick and feel Jenkins is going to need bail out money clauses then Gilmore is your guy.

I agree that he is inconsistant but so is Coples, who is in a better position to demonstrate consistancy. If he is rated higher than the second third tier of cbs then if you re stuck at 9 and that is the need..you take him.

I was just stating after Gilmore's Sophmore season he was projected as a first rounder..which he is apparently.
