Looking Like Jenkins Will Be There In The 2Nd...

I was first skeptical about Jenkins being there when our pick comes around in the 2nd round but all the baggage / character issues he is carrying around is causing his stock to take a considerable hit.

Esp with Claiborne, Gilmore, and Kirkpatrick all being projected ahead of him.

So my question is, do we take the risk and draft Jenkins in the 2nd?

Im all for it so long as we get Cox or Coples in the 1st.

Jenkins is hands down the best corner in the draft as far as skills go. And defending the pass is crucial when going up against the Brees, Rodgers, and Brady's.

The reward is greater than the risk. Do the right thing Hurney!

I'd definitely take a chance on him in the 2nd. Him or Trumaine Johnson is really who I hope we draft in the 1st (assuming we go Dline in the 1st), and both have some character concerns (although, Johnson's are no where near as bad as Jenkins')

Judging a Player on what happens off the field is idiotic, Cam had his troubles and has it caused us any problems?

nope.

LMAO, are you really comparing Cam Newton's mythical off the field issues that didn't exist to Jenkins'?

It's easy to pick and choose your corner cases for off the field issues, but the fact of the matter is, I would say a majority of the players who have off the field issues the magnitude of Jenkins', they have those some problems at the next level. It would take a very, very strong personality to keep it from happening.

Last year, Bruce Carter was the 40th pick in the draft, the same spot we will be picking this year. His contract is 4 years/4.7 million.

The possible reward is absolutely worth the risk. Paying first round talent that kind of money is a no-brainer. He will grow up in our locker room, and if he doesn't, I won't be mad at Hurney for taking a chance.

i would love jenkins in the second. DL/DE in the first, CB in the second and a later-round OLB would be an instant defensive upgrade.

Cox

Jenkins

Bradham

in the draft

to add with getting back Beason and Edwards

and our defense just went up like 50 notches!
