Eagles Are Willing To Trade Samuel For A 5Th Or A 6Th

I have a theory about Asante. Yeah, he makes plays and gets interceptions. Yet for every big play he makes, he gives up 5-6 big plays to the offense. So it becomes a numbers game for QBs looking at Asante. Its all downhill from there, as Asante ages. So even though he can get big interceptions, it's only because QBs are not afraid to throw his way. The Eagles understand this, which is why they want to get rid of him.

To be honest, I wouldn't sign him if he were a free agent, unless he was willing to play nickel.

I would have to disagree. I think QB's are afraid of his playmaking ability. If you wanted to knock Asante, it would have to be on his physicality. I've watched Asante for a while, and this guy can straight up play....

Secondly, if you were to put Asante only on nickel situations, I would beat you over the head... Captain over Asante? What is this world coming too.

I wouldn't put Capt. in over Asante, I would have who ever we bring in from the draft as our other starter. Or perhaps the guy we brought in from SF could fight for the starting spot.

Haha, I figured you wouldn't. I was just messing with you.... My sarcasm was just to say, Asante could most definitely help this team. He would put a playmaker in our secondary, something we lack. When I think of playmakers, I think of Thomas Davis (a few years ago) Jon Beason, and Charles Johnson. Yet, neither of them get us crazy amount of turnovers. We need someone to be back there racking up turnovers, and getting Cam the ball. I remember that's how the Saints made their Superbowl ring, they got turnovers from Sharper, with solid coverage from Porter and Greer.... I know some of you are going to make snyde remarks about bounties, so I'm saying it here to steal your thunder.

"The flipside to Finnegan's inconsistency would be Asante Samuel's consistency. Samuel ranked first in both yards per pass and Success Rate in 2010, then third in both for 2011. Yes, this is the guy the Eagles are trying to trade because they want to be able to move Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie"

I'm going to have to ask for evidence with those stats. If I were a QB playing the Eagles' defense, I would be throwing at Asante's side all day.

Not when Philly is playing zone coverage. Nnamdi is arguably the best man coverage CB in the game. Raiders ran tons of man coverage....Nnamdi hasn't looked as good in Philly bc they ask him often to not play man.

Asante is great in zone coverage. Nnamdi is great in man

Lol Falcons would have about $35m tied up to 3 CBs in their 30s...

Depends if you want to win now or later. Would be a good move if they think they can win soon.

Then again, not sure his contract, but Robinson has been a disappointment. Maybe part with him
