Eagles Are Willing To Trade Samuel For A 5Th Or A 6Th

Um....didn't we just bring in Jim Johnson's under study to be our DC? What scheme was Samuel playing under Jim Johnson and then McD in Philly?

They brought in Asomugha last offseason. Same offseason they tried to get rid of Samuel.....same offseason the JJ43 was moving to Carolina.

Samuel would be a great fit....pending he and McD didnt have issues in the past. You know...when they worked together in the same scheme we now plan to run.

I think that Samuels would be fine for a 6th rounder if he were reasonable but at 31 and that costly I think he couldn't be good enough to be worth the price. We will be talking about replacing Gamble in a few years, we don't need someone that costs more and is older.

As for scheme I am withholding judgement. Given the injuries and lockout, what we ran last year was nothing like a JJ 4-3. Totally disappointing to me so far.

If he agreed to restructure, I think it is a no brainer.

His best years were in Jim Johnson's scheme and a 5th or 6th for a player who could be a pro-bowler is a non brainer.

The only downside is that there is no way he takes a pay cut or restructures his deal.

I'd wait until the Eagles are forced to cut him and pick him up then.

I second that...

Age is the key factor here not position, at 31 your getting a rental.

Not saying we definitely should, but Charles Woodson is going to be 36 this season.

And won DPOY when he was 33.

I know he isn't the caliber player that CW is, but its not like he is going to retire in a year or two.

I don't want Samuel now. Cant afford such a move. He could of been a nice move last year....not realistic now with the choices we made.

Trade a 5th for Samuels. Draft (DT)Fletcher Cox, (DE) Chandler Jones, (LB) Nigel Bradham..

DE - Johnson/Applewhite/Keiser

DT- Cox/Fua

DT- Edwards/McClain

DE - Hardy/Jones

OLB- Davis/Senn

MLB- Beason/Bradham

OLB - Anderson/Onatolu

CB-Gamble/Munnerlyn/Butler

CB-Samuel/Hogan

S- Nakamura/Martin

S- Godfrey/Smith

Would yall be happy with that? I think thats a much improved defense.

That would give us a top 15 defense which would IMO put us in the playoffs.

Not disagreeing completely, but I was talking about making a move for him last year using DeAngelos money. No real difference..... but that move could of made the overall team better then and in better position this year. If we signed him last year....he and DeAngelo roughly would have had the same span of time left to play at a high level. Difference would be Samuel would play every down at what was a weak slot instead of some at a position of strength.

Rumors last year were McD and Asante didn't get along.....so that could of squashed any thought of it last year if true

I agree, I think Dwill was a foolish move, If we could get Samuel it would go a long way to improving our defense (along with staying healthy)

If we can just get a top 15 defense we will be in the playoffs.
