Don Gregory Says Matt Kalil Is Better Than Ryan

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

An unproven college kid that plays LT is better than our proven, Pro Bowl Center. Good assessment there Don Gregory, you jackass.

He's the head of College Scouting for your team.....so I think he knows infinitely more about what he's talking about than you or anyone here......obviously

The quote should be "Matt Kalil is a better prospect than Ryan was coming out of college."

Otherwise, Gregory just sounds like a jackass. Embarrassing that our director of college scouting rates players in a similar fashion as day-1 huddle posters. "Andrew Luck is already better than Manning", "Claiborne is faster, stronger, greater than Darrelle Revis", "Kuechly is better than the 49ers defense", etc. I can just imagine his scouting reports looking like:

Andrew Luck > Peyton Manning

RG3 = Cam Newton/Armanti Edwards

Matt Kalil > Ryan Kalil and Jesus

Claiborne >= Revis

Tannehill = Ryan Leaf - Jimmy Clausen

Trent Richardson > Reggie Bush^5

Fletcher Cox = Suh on a diet

Decastro >>> "Can't think of any guards"

Coples > Everette Brown w/o the bust

Kuechly <= Polamalu

Let's not forget the two brothers don't even play the same position. Answer questions not stupid, Gregory. kthx

Yeah, but I can't say it's surprising. Outside of the 1st round, our drafting has largely sucked for years.

For example, here are our defensive draft picks from the past 4 years:

Charles Godfrey (we're paying him like Polamalu, but he's shown to be an average safety at best)

Sherrod Martin (sum of all fears at safety)

Simone Fua (ugh)

Terrell McClain (showed a few flashes, but not far from another "ugh")

Brandon Hogan (I hold out hope for this kid. I'm hoping he can be our #2 this year)

Eric Norwood (I got nothing, neither does he)

Greg Hardy (YAY!!! We got one!)

Corey Irvin (BUST)

Everette Brown (HUGE BUST)

Captain Munnerlyn (YAY!!! I don't want him starting, but that's a good 7th rounder)

Dan Connor (never lived up to 3rd round billing)

Nick Hayden (meh...)

Hilee Taylor (showed some flashes and overall a decent flyer pick in the 7th)

Outside of the 1st round, something is amiss with our draft process. We either have poor evaluators or we're simply not listening to what our talent evaluators have to say.

I imagine so. But, I felt as if he was dogging our man. And I went off on a whim without realizing or knowing who the hell the man was in the first place. :D

I just thought the quote was an unfair assessment due to the fact they don't play the same position.

I can't imagine Matt being any WORSE than Ryan, meaning I think he has a pretty high ceiling..and will more than likely see some Pro Bowls in his future. That being said, I don't like to hear anyone saying that so and so is better than our players. But I'm just a biased Panther fan, so.
