The Minnesota Relocation Battle.

This is one of the better articles I have ever seen PFT. If there is one thing Florio knows it's lawyer business.

I would be shocked and upset if the Vikings left Minnesota. If the NFC East is the style division, well the NFC North is substance. A division comprised of classic NFL franchises. When ever you mix business and politics both sides end up being wrong. The Vikings want a stadium funded with over 50% public money and the politicians are well....politicians. I just really hope they settle this, it would start an awful precedent for strong franchises to leave small markets over stadiums.

To tie this into Charlotte relocation has always been a concern of mine. We have experienced it with the Hornets. I think the Richardson family is committed to the city but I am younger than JR and his sons. I want this team to be here when I die, not when they die. People like to complain about PSL but I have to hand it to Jerry, he built a stadium without a serious public contribution. There are talks of remodeling and I'm curious if he pays that himself or surcharges PSL owners. I'm of the opinion the sooner we build the better. We built Ericsson for what? 250mil? 17 years later Stadium are going for a billion. If we wait another 15-20 years it could be god knows what.

So not much to see here. Just found this article to be worth reading.

Panthers have never asked a cent from Charlotte and thats why they are the Carolina Panthers and not the Charlotte Panthers. IMO the Vikes are just greedy and want to move so they make more doe. Im just happy JR is not money hungry like some owners.

I dont believe any form of government should be involved in building stadiums for professional teams or funding any private industry/business for that matter..

They sure didnt help me when I opened up my businesses. Actually quite the opposite, they were/are almost always in the way.

does your business have the same economic impact as an nfl team?

to say that the government shouldn't have ANY involvement is pretty silly.

I am a surveyor and deal with municipalities on construction from time to time. I'm sure the city of Charlotte offered incentives to bring in the Panthers. Things like expedited building permits and tax/fee breaks.

I tend to be conservative about govt spending but the city/state benefit from having an NFL franchise. They tax the millions of dollars in revenue a Franchise generates in a region. Then tax the employees creating the revenue. Franchises are a source of prestige to an area that pays dividends in the world of big business.

So I'm ok with the govt chipping in if it's not excessive or frequent.

Study after study is done on this... The public is lead to believe there is a benefit, but time and time again it is proven, there is very little to no benefit for the local economy.

..and yes, I overstated my thought, Government does need to be involved in some form, but not with public funds.

Umm.... what the hell are you talking about? Give me the names of these studies, and the researchers behind them, or else you just made that completely up.

of course they should be involved .. just not financially .. these owners will find a way to make it happen .. if not someone else will .. that's what makes a free economy so great

    • Here comes Frankw and his pathetic little persecution complex to claim I have a personal vendetta against one of the worst performing coaches in the league if anything I should love Canales because he’s walking proof that through the lord all things AREN'T possible.  This kind of performance is exactly what you’d expect from someone who filled the building with misunderstood Bible quotes about iron forging iron and inspired speeches about how he apologized for his infidelity by buying his wife a book deal.  once more into the breech dear friends, just like when I paid a stripper for an above the pants hand job in Orlando.
    • As dumb as it probably sounds, we should have won that game.  Defense was bad but Bryce should have been better.  Pass rush isn't a good enough excuse.
    • You and I both know there isn't a coach we could or can still hire that can "fix" Bryce Young. Even at mighty Alabama with one of the best modern coaches in college football history Mac Jones was still a better QB than Bryce Young. Mac Jones.... We already know how you feel about Canales on a personal level so in that regard you wanting him fired is not news. You don't have to disguise it behind this shroud of rabble about not fixing Bryce Young. To his credit he somehow had us competive against the Chiefs and the Eagles on the road with #9. But no coaching staff can overcome their starting QB turning the ball over 4 times. We definitely have developed some of our younger offensive pieces. And as far as Evero goes he has earned criticism and if he's fired so be it but in his defense many of us said in the offseason this defensive roster was a disaster waiting to happen given the resources we spent on the offense while neglecting the defense. That was Dan Morgan's plan. He swung too hard toward offense to salvage the Bryce Young trade. That's on him. We can scream about XL all we want but at least he's actually been on the field for the most part. The Brooks pick was a luxury pick at the time and now it is a Hurney level blunder. Dan Morgan has gotten a lot of early praise here when in reality he's unequivocally deserving of significant criticism. But if you say that some people get up in arms because he's a former Panther. Big whoop. He has just as much to prove this upcoming season as Canales. That's why to me in my own personal opinion I say one more season and then if it's more of the same say goodbye to both.
