It Just Keeps Getting Better: Paul Silas Shoves Tyrus Thomas Into A Locker

LOL

The story:

http://sports.yahoo....ocker-room.html

Charlotte Bobcats coach Paul Silas shoved 6-foot-10 forward Tyrus Thomas after a postgame screaming match Sunday night, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Several players intervened immediately and separated the coach and player, and no punches were thrown, sources said.

Silas, 68, had been incensed with Thomas chatting with some Boston Celtics players on the court, and lashed out at him in the losing locker room afterward. Eventually, Thomas snapped back at Silas, and the coach warned him to say no more or risk a suspension.

Once Thomas stood up, Silas pushed him toward his locker stall, sources said.

Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins met with Silas and Thomas, and both have been fined, a source said.

"There was an incident," Higgins told Y! Sports. "We handled it internally and talked to both the player and the coach and moved on. End of story."

Thomas played 20 minutes Monday night in a loss to the New Orleans Hornets, the Bobcats' 17th straight.

Charlotte has spiraled to a 7-53 record, and the Boston loss had been especially embarrassing for Silas, who played for the Celtics during his career. The Celtics sat out Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, and still won easily.

“Silas hates losing to the Celtics, and Paul was even angrier that he thought [Thomas] was acting buddy-buddy with some of their guys,” one source said. “That’s what got it going. But Paul was yelling at him over his salary, over what they have left to pay him. But it started with him saying, hey, he could live with the losing, but you’re going to be buddy-buddy as they’re beating your ass too?”

Wow. Silas ain't playing. Good for him, I personally think TT is loafing so he will get amnestied.

T Time has so much potential but hasn't reached it. His shot this year has gone down hill.

I will say Tyrus seems to be very enthusiastic on the bench at times. He is celebrating threes and getting into the games when he isn't even seeing much court time. That's the least he can do considering how much he is getting paid. He could be amnestied to clear some cap space for future years.

I didn't see this game, who was he getting "buddy-buddy" with? If I had to bet it'd be Bass.

I didn't watch it either, but that was the first thing I thought of too... Another LA or LSU guy.

He really is a headcase though man, and I had high hopes for him. IIRC, someone at Bobcatsplanet either had seats right behind the bench or had some connection with the team, I can't remember which now... But, he said that some fan kept heckling TT. Eventually, TT told an usher or someone to go to the fan and give him passes to the locker room for after the game telling him they would give him autographs and such... But, TT actually was doing it so he could get the fan to the tunnel and beat his ass, the usher had to talk him out of it.

I can't figure him out, but I give up trying. I believed in his potential, I was stoked when we traded for him, but it's clear something is amiss, and I feel like he is playing headgames and doesn't want to be here. So, give him his wish and save some cap money in the meantime.

He is a strange dude. If you are ever at a game, just watch him. He's entertaining to watch. He doesn't seem to be "all there." He'll line up for the national anthem with like 45 secs left while others are still warming up. He seems like a loner.

This also reminds me of a story Charles Barkley told on TNT about when Paul was his head coach in Phoenix... It was hilarious and Chuck always talks on the show whenever they make fun of us about how much he loves Paul...

IIRC, Chuck said they just lost a game and were having problems and a dustup happened in the locker room and Chuck told Silas he would punch him in the head. He said he was completely serious and it was a legit argument, and Paul replied "You got a head too!" lol... Silas might be old but dude is still tough.

Yeah, I've read other stuff from the guy on BP who knows DJ real well and he's said stuff over the years that suggest that. It's possible Tyrus doesn't know what he's doing himself either, lol. There's no method to the madness but it's time for us to end the experiment.

Even his interview with the Observer earlier in the year seemed off or aloof.

Yeah I remember Barkley telling that story on TNT Inside the NBA.

Clearly Silas has not moved into the "I don't care anymore" stage. He has never lost his passion for the game and for toughness on the court.

It's too bad he's still the captain of this sinking ship. What an embarrassment and complete fugging debacle. Where's furrykittenman to give us the inside scoop since he runs the team store?

TT is a grown man and should be treated with the same respect from the coach. A player should never put their hands on a coach, and a coach should not put his hands on a player.... doing so is not professional and should not be tolerated. As the coach and leader of the team he should be setting an example and not be resorting immature actions you expect from a kid.
