Rumor: Eagles Interested In Trading Up For Fletcher Cox

SO when Johnson was drafted he came out of the draft at 6'2" and 270. Arm length is unknown??? and reps in combine were 33. Ingram is 6'2" and 264. Arm length 31 1/2, 28 reps in Bench press.

Ingram is faster and more athletic than Johnson was and will make more of an impact sooner. As for Johnson being bigger and stronger??? Not a big difference. While folks say it took 3 years for Johnson to start, weren't folks complaining that he should have started sooner. With no Peppers and only Hardy as competition he might get to be a starter much sooner.

I'm also willing to bet that If we do draft Ingram Hardy will still be the Starter unless he gets injured.

I actually see a Breakout season for Hardy coming.

If CJ was ready to start sooner then he would have beaten out Tyler Brayton which shouldn't have been hard to do. But he needed to bulk-up to hold up against teams running at him. Just like Ingram would have to do. But in a 3-4 Ingram can play sooner and use his speed more in open spaces.

Again I'm telling you no matter what you say or your opinion my opinion will still be that I think Ingram will have more of a impact in his 1st year and a overall better career as a OLB on a 3-4 team.

So I guess Robert Mathis has to bulk up to play DE in a 4-3?? I guess that Umenyoria has to bulk up to play in a 4-3. I guess that John Abraham is also not big enough to play DE in a 4-3. All those guys weigh the same or less than Ingram.

I hear what you say about about a 3-4 but remember that we are a hybrid and will do some 4-3 and some 3-4. We already brought in Applewhite and Dillard who are the same kind of guys and shows that Rivera values those type of players. Ingram just gives us the pass rusher we are looking for. Although I still think we will either go Brockers or more likely Coples if we go D linemen.

Brayton took way too much grief. He wasn't a good pass rusher but he was a 1st rounder and very good against the run until 2010.

That would be great. You can't have too many pass rushers.

I agree that you can't have too many pass rushers. So, if you get Cox in the first, guys like Whitney, Perry, or Curry could all be there in the 2nd, and could upgrade over Hardy. That way, we'd secure two parts of our line. (But our DBs suffer. :( )

Cox was not a premier pass rusher in college. In the NFL as a junior he will be totally overmatched. If we don't mind waiting a year or two like we will with Cox I would prefer Brockers who is bigger has more upside and will take time like Cox to develop. If we want a passer for this year we can pick up Ingram or Coples. Most of the time you want a first rounder who can contribute right away and Cox should have stayed in school. Then again with no real standout at DT this year, it was likely a good year to come out. That way he looks better in a deep but weak class.

This is P55 new thing now "Cox should have stayed in school because he won't be able contribute right away". Or Cox wasn't a Premier Pass rusher.

To bad I rather get my prospect breakdowns from experts.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/28964/fletcher-cox

"Explosive bull-rusher that can collapse the pocket whether he's lined up on the inside or the outside. Can be very effective as a bull-rusher when he stays low. Effective hand-fighter that flashes rip and pull moves. Just average lateral mobility and isn't going to get many offensive linemen off balance with side-to-side moves. Is versatile and can play all along the DL, but best pass-rush potential in NFL is inside.

Charley Casserly

"Most complete and safest defensive tackle in this draft. "

Rob Rang CBSsports.

The Carolina Panthers allowed an average of 130.8 yards on the ground in 2011 and will almost surely be looking to add talent and size up front to improve in this area. They'll have their choice of several talented defensive tackles. Cox hasn't generated the hype of LSU's Michael Brockers or Memphis' Dontari Poe, but he's the most pro-ready.

All seem to disagree with P55 breakdown.

What they are suggesting is that he was the best of a weak but deep class and that is what I alluded to. There are no great DTs in this class. Brockers is a sophomore and everyone else has issues as well. Sure if you have to pick one then Cox is perhaps your best choice but do you need to pick one at all?? Especially in the first round. I don't think so. All of the jockeying around by these DTs shows that there is not a truly dominant in this draft.

going DL with the 1st two picks would make me a happy camper.even if one is OLB/ DE, this team needs a better pass rush.

DE perhaps but DT in a weak class?? Why? None of those DTs provide much of a pass rush option other than Brockers and that is a year or two away. He should have stayed in school as well.

its funny you say DT is a weak class when some are saying it is strong. Cox could be a pass rush guy from the inside and that is the strong part of his game. i like Brockers as well, but he is not the threat Cox is in form of a pass rush.
