Rumor: Eagles Interested In Trading Up For Fletcher Cox

usually a deep class is considered a strong class. my theory again is to take the best DL on the board if that is Coples, Ingram, or Cox. he has said he wanted to improve the pass rush, but that could mean he is referring about the inside and not just the outside positions. im not stuck on DT because we do have a lot of bodies their right now, but i am stuck on building this DL which needs a major boost of talent. inside and out.

A deep class means what it says. Deeps suggests breadth not necessarily strong candidates throughout. If you have 20 guys with similar ability and no true standouts that is deep but not particularly strong. When a junior and sophomore are two of your best, it isn't strong. And I can definitely see the need for a better pass rush, I think if we go D line we need to go outside since we went inside last year.

Bc it is more than just looking at a stat sheet. If Fairley, Dareus, and Cox were all in the same draft class......Cox would be at best the 3rd DT off the board.

Coz needs time to develop. We need help now. We can find someone to help us now at 9

Cox would be the 2nd DT in that list. He is the most pro-ready DT in this draft. There is no develop time required with Cox.. he is probably and instant top 3, quickest DT in the league, and already has NFL strength with 30 reps. He will need to put on 6 or 7lbs, and get a little better with pad level, but he can do that by week 1.

The more I think about it.. the more I realize, that this story about the Eagles wanting to move up for Cox is exactly the story I want leaked if I want to draft Tannehill. You don't want the Dolphins thinking they need to move up to get their guy. The Eagles truly want Tannehill and are going to move to #7 to get him. Cox trade = Smokescreen. It makes horrible sense to trade into the Top 10 for a DT.

Who you got Cox going ahead of then?

There is no time needed for Cox to develop into a NFL DT? Seriously?

Go check out the top drafted DTs in the last 8 years or so..... and tell me how many were ready to start.

Cox is ahead of Fairley easily. Fairley with his off-field issues, and was a 1 year wonder. Plenty of questions regarding Fairley. I am telling you that Cox is good enough to play in the NFL immediately. Can he get better? Absolutely. But, he is better than McClain by a mile.

and if they don't draft a DT at 9 will you be able to cope with that.....from your posts it doesn't sound like it

I trust in our team to make the right pick. I like DT at 9 but I also like CB and DE. Not a fan of LB as you know but if we draft LB I understand they did that for a reason. You on the other hand are going to have a hard time with anyone outside of LB because you dont deem them BPA.

Aren't you talking about it?? So are you including yourself in your own castigation??? Just a little logic for you to ponder......

Just pointing out how a discussion turns into a derp derp derby because people cant see others opinions.

Again with the unprovoked personal attacks. Trolling for an argument won't work, I don't stoop to that level. I prefer to use stats, discussion and logic to communicate. Thanks for playing though...

Not a personal attack just a fact. Both of you are set on who you want and are not hearing anything else. Also its not too hard to troll you cause your just waiting to fly off the handle.

No way, Fairley dominated his last year in a way that Cox simply didn't do. I mean, that isn't even debatable.

You are getting carried away.

All I have said is Luke COULD be BPA on D based on how things unfold.....and should go that route over a DT.

That in no way suggests I will only be happy with a Luke. I'd rather have or equally be happy with several others.

DT class is just so deep value is better using the 2nd pick.

You are so focused in Cox you block out all the words used in a sentence that contains the word Luke. Luke's name only comes up when DTs are talked about....

I wouldn't be upset w/ Cox at 1 and David in the 2nd.... 43 DTs just need time. You need to be ready for Cox to develop some before being what you claim. Going Luke then DT if you are going the DT route early..... gives you a ready now LB and DT to develop. Cox at 9 means you likely dont have a week 1 player ready to go

Think so? What are the knocks on Cox? I named 2 knocks on Fairley, and I didn't mention his small rump. He was considered top heavy and disproportionate. They didn't think he would get much push in run game due to his smaller legs.. and they were right. I think Cox is the better prospect with less questions surrounding him. Yes, Fairley had the better stats his junior year, there is no denying that. If it were as easy as looking at their last year of production, then the draft would be easy. Cox has more years starting and was more consistent too.
