Bobcats Rebrand Update Thread (Real Charlotte Fans-Censorship Free Edition)

you know your team sucks when the biggest debate is over which colors/name they should have

Which would suggest something is wrong with the way it is currently constructed.

I don't have to keep justifying myself. There aren't many bigger fans of this team than me. All of the guys spewing venom at me against the rebrand already know that I was one of the biggest posters here since day one. I also post at Bobcats Planet all the time. Yet, when I suggest that we should do something for our team that will bring more attention, marketability, and profitability and give us a chance at ensuring long-term success, I'm not a fan anymore? LOL, tell that to the Cats' turnstile. Tell that to Foot Locker. Tell that to the useless Okafor jersey hanging in my closet. Tell that to the majority of our fanbase, who just like me, have contributed money, time, and effort towards this team and are also in favor of the rebrand.

Truth is, most REAL Bobcats fans feel just like me. I am a Bobcats fan, but I grew up a Hornets fan. Would I like to see Kemba run out there on that court in teal and purple with Charlotte across his chest? Absolutely. Would I like to see Anthony Davis drafted by us at #1 (if we get the #1 pick), sign with Jordan Brand, then run out in that same purple and teal, rocking some teal and purple Jordan 5's? NO DOUBT. Do I think the rebranding to Hornets will result in non-Bobcats fans who haven't spent a dime towards this team or watched one game becoming fans? Emphatic YES. And I'm pretty sure MJ sees it the same way.

chill out. I wasn't referring to you specifically by any means, as there have been multiple threads about this same topic. I never insulted your 'fanhood'.

My original point was: winning solves everything. I doubt we would care what the Bobcats were called if they had one of the best records in the NBA.

No, I don't have to chill out because it wasn't addressed to you. I was just using your post as the springboard. I know you haven't insulted anyone in this whole debate, I just got on my soapbox about the ones who have. My main point to your post was the first sentence - the amount of debate shows that there is a problem with the brand and a disconnect with the fanbase.

Just saw you're avatar, good to see another Hornets fan!

Don't kid yourself, fatboy.

I'm a CHARLOTTE HORNETS fan and not a New Orleans Hornets fan.

The name belongs to the people of the Charlotte area and frankly it is disgusting to go to NOLA.com and see a picture of Hugo the Hornet.

A major fallback on not wanting the name back is saying "who cares about the name" or "just support the team"

Well if NO rebrands and it takes some years for this whole thing to truly evolve into fruition, I can honestly see people going to root for the Hornets...they just happen to wear Bobcats uniforms and logos. If the grassroots movement really takes hold, they should go and try to get the whole fanbase to simply root for the Charlotte Hornets. If you have the fan base chanting "Let's Go Hornets" when the team doesn't even exist that shows what it actually means beyond whatever your opinion on the issue may be. That shows there is something there whether you want to believe it or not and its already started before anything has even become finalized or whatnot on the NO side of thigns...NOW THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
