Early Look At The Roster

Recommended Posts

This is what I think our team looks like so far:

OFFENSE:

WR1: Steve Smith - Dwayne Jarrett - Ryne Robinson

LT: Jordan Gross

LG: Travelle Wharton - Mackenzy Bernadeau

C: Ryan Kalil

RG: Keydrick Vincent - Duke Robinson ®

RT: Jeff Otah - Geoff Schwartz

TE: Jeff King - Dante Rosario - Gary Barnidge

WR2: Muhsin Muhammad - Jason Carter

QB: Jake Delhomme - Josh McCown - Matt Moore

FB: Brad Hoover - Tony Fiametta ®

RB: DeAngelo Williams - Jonathan Stewart - Mike Goodson ®

DEFENSE:

LE: Everette Brown ® - Tyler Brayton

DLT: Maake Kemoeatu - Corvey Irvin ®

DRT: Damione Lewis - Nick Hayden

RE: Julius Peppers - Charles Johnson - Hilee Taylor

SLB: Na'il Diggs - Landon Johnson

MLB: Jon Beason - Dan Connor

WLB: Thomas Davis - James Anderson

LCB: Chris Gamble - Sherrod Martin ® - C.J. Wilson

RCB: Richard Marshall - Dante Wesley - Captain Munnerlyn ®

SS: Chris Harris - Nate Salley

FS: Charles Godfrey - Quinton Teal

SPECIAL TEAMS:

K: John Kasay - Rhys Lloyd

P: Jason Baker - Rhys Lloyd

KO: Rhys Lloyd - John Kasay

H: Jason Baker

DS: J.J. Jansen - Gary Barnidge - Ryan Kalil

KR1: Ryne Robinson - Captain Munnerlyn ® - Jason Carter - Jonathan Stewart

PR1: Ryne Robinson - Captain Munnerlyn ® - Jason Carter - Chris Gamble

A couple of notes from my opinion...

-Carter doesn't make the team.

-We need a backup center. Kalil has been out way too many games to depend on him alone to make it through the season.

-Goodson will serve as the 5th WR and the 3rd RB

-Jarrett is behind Moose, Robinson is behind Smith.

-Brown will only start if Peppers doesn't and it will be at RDE.

-Johnson starts at LDE and Brayton starts at DT. (Not too many agree with this but I really think Brayton could excel at DT in this system.)

-Lewis is behind Kemo and Irvin is behind Brayton.

-We will not sign Robertson.

-I'm not sure who wins the positions, besides the starters from last season, but we will not take 10 DB into the season.

-Gut feeling...they are going to have Robinson focus on being a WR and Goodson and Munnerlyn will be called upon to handle return duties.

-And finally, JJ Jansen is cut early in camp and they resign Kyle very quickly.

A couple of notes from my opinion...

-Carter doesn't make the team.

That would leave us with only 4 WRs o_O

I think Carter is the better receiver, but we will have to wait till pre-season starts to know for sure.

-We need a backup center. Kalil has been out way too many games to depend on him alone to make it through the season.

Mackenzy can play Center.

-Goodson will serve as the 5th WR and the 3rd RB

Goodson is mostly like a Marshall Faulk type player. We are stacked at WR, so no need to cut our WRs down to just 4 because Goodson was a good receiving running back.

-Jarrett is behind Moose, Robinson is behind Smith.

Jarrett behind Robinson???

-Brown will only start if Peppers doesn't and it will be at RDE.

We gave up a 1st rounder, he better be starting

-Johnson starts at LDE and Brayton starts at DT. (Not too many agree with this but I really think Brayton could excel at DT in this system.)

That would make our Line worse

-Lewis is behind Kemo and Irvin is behind Brayton.

Same as above

-We will not sign Robertson.

You never know

-I'm not sure who wins the positions, besides the starters from last season, but we will not take 10 DB into the season.

With the way it looks now, it does. Unless they think its worth it to cut one of them and keep OT Jonathan Palmer. They'll have to cut one any way if they sign another DT.

-Gut feeling...they are going to have Robinson focus on being a WR and Goodson and Munnerlyn will be called upon to handle return duties.

Same as my very first response (Carter vs Robinson). Plus, Goodson never did it in college and Munnerlyn will have to prove himself on returns that he's better than Robinson.

-And finally, JJ Jansen is cut early in camp and they resign Kyle very quickly.

Don't know about this one. I think if they wanted Kyle, they would've resigned him already.

There you go :)

A couple of notes from my opinion...

I agree with pretty much everything you've written.

It's a shame to lose players like Jason Carter and Decori Birmingham, who I hoped would develop into some sort of role here, but Goodson alone can hopefully be used in place of both of those players.

I'm really excited about all of our new guys.

There you go :)

:cheers2:

Thanks for clarifying some of the reasoning for your original post. We have different opinions but hell, thats going to happen during the pre-season.

Just one quick question...why do you think moving Brayton to DT would make the line worse? I said this before on here and many have slammed me for it but no one really gives me a reason. Could you explain why you think that would make the d-line worse? Maybe my opinion of Brayton is just too high or something, I'm not sure.
