As far as points given up, these are the rankings of the teams in the playoffs

#1 (Steelers )

#2 (49ers)

#3 (Ravens)

#4 (Texans)

#9 (Bengals)

#13 (Saints)

#15 (Patriots)

#18 (Falcons)

#19 (Packers )

#23 (Lions)

#24 (Broncos)

#25 (Giants)

Panthers were ranked 27th

Look at the time of possession in 1st half compare to 2nd half. We barely hold the ball. Our offense struggled in 2nd half. We kept going 3 and out. Our drives were 1-2 minutes long. When you continue to give other teams chances, they eventually will score. Defense also hold its own against the top teams in 1st half. They go exhausted by the 4th quarter and quit due to lack of production on offense. D also had terrible depth.

Giants barely made the playoffs. They got super hot in playoffs. They had 8th ranked offense and one of the worst defenses.

Again, a simplistic argument. Giants started the season with a new DC and played poorly most of the year. Near the end of the year they began to play well...like a top 15 defense, and that was the difference. Apart from that, they don't even make the playoffs.

In last 5 games, Giants scored 141points, an average of over 28 points a game. Giants allowed 121 points, an average of 24.6 points a game. Why their D improved in playoffs? Because their starter on D come back from injuries. Just like us, except our players were done for the year. Our D will improve, we need depth. Our D is very talented and very young. People need to understand that.

Thank you for making my point.

I'm not sure where I'm proving your point. Their D was ranked 3rd best on playoffs in point and yards allowed (thanks to Atlanta).

If only offense matters, then getting injured starters back on defense wouldn't be necessary, now would it? They were the most balanced team in the playoff tournament. That is why they won it.

I requested thursday and friday off work so I could watch the draft. I do it every yr I can. I get more excited over draft weekend than I do for any holiday. Forgive me Jesus. You are my guiding light and personal savior, my everything. Okay, its a close second to the birth of my god but just by a holy hair.

Also, LaFell is a possession receiver. Putting him as #1 would be a disaster. LaFell was very successful against zone coverage, he was able to find a soft spots. If Smith hits the wall or gets injured, we'll be doomed. Opposite teams would be able to bring their safeties forward and blitz the hell of Newton.

Also, David Gettis excelled in 2010 because he was #2 WR and played possession receiver. None of the 2 had #1 WR experience or faced double teams. Gettis had 37rec in his entire NFL career, you ready to replaced Smitty with unproven guy who is coming back from ACL tear. lol

You keep making these stupid arguments.

Gettis and Lafell aren't #1 wr option but a WR who caught 23 balls and did nothing against the best CB in the "ACC" (which by the way are rated 3rd round picks) is a #1 wr option?

Look at the teams in Playoff last year...

32nd D - Green Bay

31st D - New England (Superbowl)

27th D - New York Giants (Superbowl)

24th D - New Orleans Saints

23rd D - Detroit Lions

20th D - Denver Broncos

Sure, you need a great D to be successful. Wake up, its all about offense.

You forget the last 4 teams were 49ers (top 5 defense), Ravens (top 5 defense) Giants (improve defense that got healthy) and 1 top 5 offense the Pat's.
