Could We Be Packers 2.0 In This Year Draft?

I wish we pull something in this year draft like what the Packers did in 09'. In 2009, the Packers ironically, held the No.9 pick took BJ Raji and surprised everyone by trading back up with the Pats to take Clay Matthews at 26th. The rest was history.

This year we hold the No.9 pick and a team who we could probably trade back up into the first is no other than the Patriots, who hold the No.27 pick ( one down from no.26 ).

I hope we take either Cox or Brockers at 9th and possibly a Chandler Jones, Nick Perry, or Andre Branch with the trade up. I know that Jones and Branch could be there at 40th, but both of them been generating a lot of buzz due to Coples falling. I think anyone of those three could give us the pressure ( matthews ) we need down the road. If we could strike gold in a scenario like this, the rest could be history for us.

Just a thought.

I was thinking about this not too long ago, they were coming off a 6-10 season too I believe. They had their franchise QB and a good offense but their D held them back the whole year. I wouldn't mind trading away our second round pick because we suck in the second anyways. Maybe grab brockers/cox and then mclellin/upshaw in the late first

Yup they came off a 6-10 record also.

Their defense was what held them back that season.

And yup we do suck in the 2nd. It wouldn't hurt to trade back into the first. Last time we did it, it worked out pretty well, when Otah is healthy.

You'll never win pulling comparions like that. Remember that even with all of that, they have deep roster and Rodgers was in his 4th year.

I think we have as deep a roster as they do in 09-10. It was Rodgers fourth year, but it was only his seond year being a full time starter in 09'.

I actually think that we have more talents then they did.

Can't discount being in the league without starting. 2nd year starting, but it still wasn't his second year in the NFL. But the offense was fine anyway as previously suggested.

I wish the pats would pull something like that. But alas, the possibility is minimal.

I'm sure the Pats would listen, if we threw them a offer. Maybe throw in Stew, for those who keeps wanting Stew traded. Since Pats do need a rb

anyway. I think the possibility of the Patriots keeping both of their first rounds this year is minimal lol. I would be surprise if they kept it.

Don't know if I want to trade back up. What would be the cost?

If we can trade back and pick up Chandler Jones and Dont'a Hightower. I would be happy. Pick up Janoris Jenkins and/or Akiem Hicks in the later rounds, and we will have had the best value picks of the draft.

Usually trading into a round usually requires trading next year's previous round pick. For example, if you want to trade into the 2012 3rd round, it would cost a 2013 2nd round pick.

That said, I have no idea what the cost of moving back up would be. Next year's first and a fourth or fifth this year?

True.

I think we're comparable to them imo.

We actually have a better running game too.

I think the defense is similar if Beason can come back healthy. I think their secondary is only a slight better than ours. But if we could pull something like that off, we could be just as good. It would be a major upgrade on defense.
